Red course at Rainbow Falls.

I had planned to run Blue, but by the time I had talked to ~10 people between my car and the start and then messed up TWICE trying to copy the course from the single Blue map onto an all-controls map (there was a printing snafu) -- it was already 11:55 am and I thought I might not be able to finish by 2:00 pm.

I wasted A LOT of time taking photos on the course and I know that cost me a few positions in the results. Oh well.

I executed my routes according to plan -- but I think my plan was bad from 2 to 3 (I was trying to avoid extra climb but should have just gone over the saddle), 5 to 6 (not sure what I was thinking here), and 9 to 10 (I should have gone more directly to it when I left the trail, on the near side of the hill and then over the saddle).

Perfect weather -- the thunderstorms in the forecast never materialized.

On the Superior trails & Coal Creek Road:

- Ran a half mile to warm up.

- 10 x two-minute intervals, with a surge in the last 30 seconds of each interval.

- Walked a half mile back uphill to the parking lot to cooldown.

- Ran up to Davidson Mesa to warm up (with a little bit of walking).

- Mile repeats x 3 (9:54, 9:36, 9:31).

- Ran back home to cool down.

The trail at Davidson Mesa has been smoothed out, with new gravel -- very nice. And the route up to and around the mesa doesn't have the awful burnt / toxic smell anymore, since debris removal has been completed at most of the adjacent properties.
