Orienteering race 39:26 [4] ** 5.0 km (7:53 / km) +60m 7:26 / km

Participated in the last of QOC's Summer Short Series events.

Ran a moderate 5km course. The controls were tiny construction flags so I quickly learned to navigate to the feature and not the flag.

Friday Aug 25 #

Orienteering 45:00 [2] 6.5 km (6:55 / km)

Stopped by Ball's Bluff Park after school to do a little running.

Ran at a steady pace and focused on constantly reading my map and pinpointing my location while on the move. I attempted to collect every feature I crossed.

Wednesday Aug 23 #

Running hills 40:00 [3] 4.4 mi (9:05 / mi)

Ran hills this morning.

Started with some warmups. Then ran 3.75 miles of hills at a 8:00 minute pace. Then cool down.

Orienteering 1:40:00 [2] ** 7.0 km (14:17 / km) +140m 12:59 / km

Took a few of my fellow NJROTC orienteers over to Balls Bluff Battlefield Park for some training.

Ran through a green course taking turns leading legs and focusing on precision compass. I felt it was very productive and helpful. Then we jumped in the Potomac for a swim.

Monday Aug 21 #

7 AM

Running 40:00 [4] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran with the cross county team for an early morning workout.

Began with a mile jog out. Then transition into a 2.6 mile tempo run which I ran in 16:35. Then a mile and a half cool down.
4 PM

Running 18:00 [3] 3.0 mi (6:00 / mi) +60m 5:39 / mi

Ran this afternoon with the cross country team. It was absolutely sizzling outside so Coach changed his plans.

Ran slight hills for 3 miles at a 8:00 mile pace.
