Unspecified (Hike) 2:46:23 [1] 11.8 km (14:06 / km) +353m 12:16 / km

Just a morning hike with the family, really relaxing but not something I would consider to be training. Very nice hike!

Orienteering race (Long) 1:04:57 [3] *** 10.01 km (6:29 / km) +181m 5:57 / km
ahr:173 max:189

Long team trial race. I was happy with my performance, the course was long and the terrain was suitable for open running and good compass work. I managed to get the technical aspect of the race down well, I was running pretty straight and made few mistakes. The same problems persist however, I need to work on getting the compass course down properly and getting my overall pace up. I also need to work on keeping my head focused on the race, especially towards the end of the race. Lots of things to work on before the big race in Denmark!

Orienteering race 32:11 [3] ***** 4.91 km (6:33 / km) +62m 6:10 / km
ahr:181 max:198

The middle distance team trial race. I was not prepared in the slightest for the terrain I was going to face. The vegetation was a lot more dense than the model map lead me to believe, and the contours were impossible for me to wrap my head around. I made a 2 minute(+) mistake on the second control and after that I kept making mistakes going into each control. It was difficult for me to keep my spirits up, and by the end of it I was feeling pretty terrible. However, I wasn't the only one with this experience. I was taking my mistakes too personally without thinking about my competitors. Everyone was having a bad time out there, and it turns out that I actually managed to come out of it with a good result.

Orienteering race 17:45 [3] *** 3.19 km (5:33 / km) +15m 5:26 / km
ahr:185 max:191

A fun relay, nothing serious. It was fun to compete with Peter, and it was nice to run in the terrain without having an awful time. A good motivating race against some friendly competition.

Just checking out the model map for the races on Saturday and Sunday. Super nice and open, don't think running slowly will be an issue!

Orienteering race (Sprint) 16:05 [4] **** 3.4 km (4:44 / km) +27m 4:33 / km
ahr:184 max:193

Sprint TT. Was not a good race, at all. Didn't feel like I was able to push myself physically and my mind was not in the right place. I think it could have been a mix of the slippery surface (my shoes weren't good for the wet surface) and my sickness/jetlag. I don't know exactly what I could have done differently, warmup was good and I thought I prepared well enough (except for the shoes). Not happy with my performance at all, hoping to use this as motivation for the races to come.
