Elfin Lakes. Interestingly, the worst parts of this route when running are the best when biking, and vice-versa. The flatter bit at the top is really enjoyable when running, but kinda sucks on the bike as there is a lot of loose rock and stones. Conversely, the descent from Red Heather is incredibly boring when running, but a lot fun on the bike as you can just let 'er rip.

Could have done with an extra gear for some of the steeper sections, but managed to grind out most of them. Just two places where the steep grade and loose rock bested me. It really is quite rocky and bumpy for a lot of the trail. There was a group of people who'd camped overnight and somehow ridden/pushed bikes without any suspension. Their descent must have been awfully painful.

The access road has gotten a lot worse since I was last up here. I ended up parking at the last switchback (~1km from the trailhead) as there was one really steep section just after it with big bumps, loose rock, and basically no traction. I probably could have got up, but decided to spare my clutch any more torture. On my way back down a lady stopped me on that steep bit to make sure she was still on the right road as it was so bad...
