Running 1:19:04 [3] 14.06 km (5:37 / km) +178m 5:17 / km
ahr:139 max:161 shoes: on Cloudflow Blue/Orange

Been doing a lot of rolling the last few days and it seems to have paid off. This is both good and bad. Good in that I felt okay running. Bad in that I have to keep subjecting myself to the pain as it works so well. I need to do some temptation bundling to keep at it. (The alternative hypothesis is that the hot tub worked wonders yesterday, but I feel like that's less likely to be true, sadly).

Lovely weather at the weekend means I'm far more enthusiastic to go out for longer runs. Kept it at a steady pace, but that just meant I got to enjoy the views for longer :)

Down to the beach, along the front past Spanish Banks, up the hill through Pacific Spirit, then wound my way back home.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

My knee hasn't been feeling great (likely due to pushing it hard at the track on Tuesday), so went to the pool. I bought some goggles and it makes a huge difference - the whole exercise feels a lot more natural now.

~30 lengths of breaststroke, and ~10 lengths of front crawl. Front crawl is exhausting - I'm not sure whether it's because I'm not breathing often enough, or because my arm/hand form is inefficient, or whether it's just general lack of fitness. I'll do some more experimentation next time; it was way too busy today!

Naturally finished with a good long soak in the hot tub.

Dogbones at Jericho. Ran at a reasonable pace for about 50m before deciding it was a bad idea and doing the course at recovery jog pace instead. Walked the steeper hills (totally justified in order to keep my heart rate down...)

Team TRIUMF Track Time!

1.5km warm up to the track.
8x400m, with 200m rest: 79, 82, 82, 84, 82, 81, 81, 78
1.5km warm down.

Great way to spend lunchtime!

Cadence noticeably dropped during the 4th segment, which correlates with the slower time. Gotta keep those feet moving!
