Note

Just registered for North Americans. Guess it's time to learn how to navigate in forests again...

Orienteering 28:55 [4] 5.22 km (5:32 / km) +30m 5:23 / km
ahr:154 max:174

Fun WET around BC Children's Hospital. Nice course by first-time-planner Alistair.

Track 55:53 [4] 10.72 km (5:13 / km) +54m 5:05 / km
shoes: on Cloudflow Blue/Yellow

10min warmup
Pyramid 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1min reps with 1min walking rest.
10min cooldown

Pretty consistent 3:45/km pace on the track, which is faster than I expected (and faster than it felt like). Still a long way to go on the fitness front, but it looks like I didn't lose as much as I expected over the last few months.

Running 1:14:11 [3] 10.08 km (7:22 / km) +200m 6:42 / km
ahr:142 max:166

Snowy, slippery run around LSCR. Varley, Rice Lake Loop, down the valley, then back via Twin, Suspension, and Pipeline bridges. Microspikes would probably have worked better than O-shoes, but I survived pretty well.

Downhill skiing 3:43:36 [0] 29.18 km (7:40 / km) +3822m 4:38 / km

Beautiful bluebird day up at Cypress. Half of Vancouver was there at the start, but queues got much better as the day went on (at least down at Raven Ridge). I tightened my bindings, and that gave me far more control in the deep snow. Super fun day!

Running 44:19 [3] 9.1 km (4:52 / km) +110m 4:36 / km

Tempo run in a very pretty PSP.

My legs were feeling good today, and I'm finally able to run hard enough that my lungs hurt more than my knees! I think my IT band issues are mostly resolved now, which I'm really happy about. I'm going to keep building it up slowly, and must remember to keep stretching and rolling.

Now that I know I'm not permanently injured, it's time to plan some race goals for the year! Currently on the list is the Sun Run (representing Team TRIUMF) and NAOCs. Now I need to add some really pretty trail races :)
