First ride on the North Shore. I rate my bike-handling skills as "turquoise" for slippery technical stuff - I wasn't confident enough to get up any flow on the rocky/rooty blue trails. As expected, I think I'm going to enjoy the XC/flow trails more than the technical trails.

Back home from Marine Drive station. Not the fastest route, but checked out some bike routes I've not ridden before.

From SLAC to the nearest train station, via Stanford campus. The campus is huge and lovely. Huge numbers of tourists around the main quad, which must be a little weird for the students.

Was carrying a fairly heavy backpack, so went at an easy pace to make sure I wasn't doing too much damage to my knees.

Explored a little bit of downtown Palo Alto while waiting for my train. I'm impressed that the downtown of all the cities in the Bay Area seem to have their own identity, even though they're all part of a huge conurbation.

My usual run when I'm in the urban sprawl of Redwood City, CA. From the hotel, through back streets for a mile to a local high school, then run around their track for a while. It's the only way to get a reasonable distance in without having to stop at intersections all the time.

It would be great to run around the Stanford campus (my meetings are close by at SLAC), but busy days and carpooling with colleagues doesn't allow for it :(
