Orienteering long (Long Dis - Prickley Sands) 1:07:23 [4]
Started atrociously~ lost 1min 30 on number one, then got two well and three ok, 4 was also just ok, then 5 lost 3min and again another 3min30 on 6!!!! This was all in the thick green part of the map, 6 i was particulary annoyed with as i am pretty sure my plan was great and i came in where i wanted, but something happened and i decided to climb an extra 3 5m contours than i needed to, and then run along and down again to realise that i was right in the first place and the control was in fact quite close to the track.... felt a bit defeated after all this, then boosted along the track to get out into the open part. The next few controls were ok, no real doozies some i was a bit off on (10m but seeing the control) and then i started to loose it on the small hills, just had nothing in my legs, the longer leg back over to the prickly stuff was a bit shit as i didnt attack and pissed around with not deciding to run on the track, but i pfaffed around in the marsh... and crossed about 7 fences at the end all in about the space of 20secs and 10m....
Prickley sands was all good, i felt strong again, however going to 18 i tweaked my ankle and hobbled for a bit, this meant me being hesitant the rest of the course, stuffed one in a depression i think it was the one after the spectator? and pulled up too short,, then ran too far left and had to come back into it.
Finished with a great display being too tired to properly check my last control on the map, glanced at map and saw that it was on a track to the right of a shed, so just ran, then punched the control at the wrong end of the track.... realised it wasnt the right code, got thoroughly confused then figured it out and ran to finish...
At Finish was totally convinced i would be WELL back however Rach Smith had done 63 something and was winning... the only other to come in ahead today were greta on 64 and yvette on 66 something, i know Greta buggered up the green too, however the other two didnt muck much up, definately saw under 60min today!
