Wednesday May 30

Ran to bus stop on Campus Pkwy to catch #70 downtown.

Ran home from campus. We sang at the Dean of Education's retirement party.

Ran to Dan and Sophia's (1.4 miles), then ran two bridges run (University and Montlake) with Sophia and Bill, then ran home.

Monday May 28

Warm up for May Daze day 3 at Twin Boulders map.
Running - Pace (orienteering) 1:19:28 [4] 13 km (6:07 / km)
Ran May Daze day 3 on Twin Boulders map. I ran fairly cleanly, with at most 2-3 minutes total lost time. My legs felt better today than on the previous two days, and I moved pretty well at times.

Ran medium intensity for May Daze day 2 at Telephone Song map. I had a clean run with very little lost time, and my legs felt better than they did yesterday.

Warmed up for May Daze day 1 at Plutonic Pleasures map. I felt really sluggish.

Ran May Daze day 1 at Plutonic Pleasures map. It was fairly hilly and my legs weren't up to it, so it felt like a slog. A couple of minutes of mistakes.

Ran May Daze Stampede course on Plains of Despair map. We arrived well after the start, so mom and I each jogged around the 4-loop motalla course on our own. I felt reasonably good, considering just having driven 17 hours.

Wednesday May 23

Ran to Stephen's mom's to work on the Rover. My legs felt really tired, and my hamstrings were tight from the 400s yesterday.

Tuesday May 22

Did Arboretum run with Husky running group, then jogged to the stadium for the track workout (53 minutes). About 7 minute warm-down afterward.
Running - Tempo (track) 7:12 [3] 1.25 mi (5:46 / mi)
Ran 1200m and 800m in 4:20 and 2:52. Took about 4 minutes walking rest in between. I was taking it easy because of the last three days of races.
Running - Sprint (track) 2:10 [5] 0.5 mi (4:19 / mi)
Ran 2 x 400m with over three minutes walking rest in between: 67, 63 (I kicked it in on the second one.)

Monday May 21

Running - Pace (orienteering) 30:04 [4] 3.9 km (7:43 / km)
Ran Sage Stomp day 3 (short course, 3.9 km, 210 m climb, 15 controls) at Valleyview Silt Cliffs. I made about 1.5 to 2 minutes of little mistakes on several controls, and was tired and slow going up the steep hills. I took second to Alaric Fish (29:22).

Sunday May 20

Running - Pace (orienteering) 46:13 [4] 7.8 km (5:56 / km)
Ran Sage Stomp day 2 on Grasslands map. It was a chase start, and I had a 6 minute lead, so I ran by myself. I ran between tempo and pace intensity, but closer to the latter. My legs felt tired from yesterday and not so snappy, but I was able to run pretty well, especially the last few km's.

Saturday May 19

Ran Sage Stomp day 1 course 8. I felt fine and had a pretty good run, but made about 4-5 minutes mistakes. I placed first by 6 minutes; Alaric Fish was second.

Ran Night-O at Bunker [something] map in Kamloops. I mostly ran easy and it felt good.

Ran day 2 of U.S. Champs. I had a decent run, but had about 6+ minutes of lost time versus about 2 minutes yesterday. My legs felt sort of tired from yesterday, even though I felt fresh yesterday afternoon and evening.

Warm-up for track workout. Ran South from Montlake for a while, then ran back North to Husky Stadium.

Ran 4 x 800m with one lap jogging recovery between reps, then did a 400m. My legs are pretty tired from the weekend, so it felt really tough.

Ran with the Footzone group from Squak Mountain to the Red Town trailhead at Cougar Mountain. Started out sort of hard up the hill, but slowed down after 20-30 minutes. My left achilles hurt again for the first several minutes of the run, but then felt better the rest of the time. The weather is gorgeous.

Ran to Meany Studio Theater for a play: The History of the Devil. It was good.

Jogged to the NOD meet at Woodland. Legs felt really tired.

Warmed up around Woodland and along the path on the East edge of the Zoo.

Ran course 3 hard at Woodland Park. It was on a map showing only contours, roads and a few point features. My legs felt really dead.

11:41 warm-up jog to Woodland plus the first mile of the HS cross country course, then 6:46 warm down home. Legs felt sort of heavy.
Running - Pace (path / grass) 12:41 [4] 2.15 mi (5:54 / mi)
Ran the last 2.15 miles (according to OCAD) of the "5km" high school cross country course at Lower Woodland. Ran medium-hard--faster than tempo pace, but slower than race pace. My legs felt pretty tired.

Jogged to a cappella practice at Stevens Court while eating a soft pretzel. It was sort of dry.

Ran from Stevens Court to Greg's, then did a 5-ish mile loop Northeast (70th & 25th) with Bill and Greg, then ran home. For the first time in over a week, my left achilles bothered me again (today and yesterday). It must be allergic to rest. ;-)

Starting in Montlake, ran to meet Bill and Don, then did the Arboretum run as a warm-up for the track workout.

Ran 3 x 1600 meters at 10k pace with 200m jog recovery between reps. Jesse and Greg were taking it easy (marathon pace for them) so I ran with them. It felt really easy, but that's probably okay after last week. Splits were 5:26.9 5:24.4 5:26.3

2 x 200 meter jogging (1:14 and 1:03) between mile repeats, then 12:46 warm down afterward.
