Warm up for orienteering at St. Edward.

Ran the Bog Slog orienteering event at St. Edward State Park. The course was tough, with a fair amount of climb and several legs with significant travel through fairly heavy forest. I lost only a few minutes, which is pretty good, considering that the map was a bit sketchy in a few places. The course was an heirloom from the first Bog Slog in 1980, when Bruce Wolfe won in about 60 minutes.

Warm up run for orienteering at Point Defiance. When I changed into my O' shoes, my ankle hurt a lot, so I changed back into my running shoes, and it didn't bother me at all--amazing what a difference some support makes.

Orienteering at Point Defiance. I felt pretty good, despite being officially on break from training. I guess running around delivering packages is training, whether I want it to be or not. The course was nice and runnable, mostly on trails with no bingo controls. I probably didn't lose more than a minute in errors.

Jogging warm down and search for an overdue party of girls and a mother. (The police had just shown up and told the meet director that there was a sexual predator living in the park.) I ran into them as they were going from control 5 to control 6. They were from Pathfinder School, and one of the girls was navigating and doing a very fine job of orienting the map and figuring out which way to go at each potential decision point.

Delivered packages, with a moderate-to-high amount of jogging. I injured the connective tissues on the outside of my left ankle today, probably from wearing street shoes with no arch support. Also, the top of the shoe cut into / rubbed my ankle a bit.

Delivering packages as a seasonal driver helper for UPS. Did about 240 stops in 6.5 hours. I didn't run a step, just walked quickly. I worked with Brad today in Laurelhurst, so it was quite hilly, with lots of climbing stairs.

Light warm-up for orienteering at NAD Park. I was meet director, so it was hard to get started, and I didn't run until well after the starts had closed.

Ran course 4 at NAD Park. I set off at a reasonably brisk pace, but I started dragging after about 40% of the course.

Rode from Linda and Dennis's house to ACT. I rode on Airport Way, which was fun. Also, there was a tailwind, and my legs felt pretty good. I overshot a few blocks and had to turn around.
