Orienteering 1:19:14 [4] 8.43 km (9:24 / km)

Start of Wellington O camp in Masterton.
First day was at Riverside, a farm map.
First couple of controls were corridor, then windows. This was pr flat and I was pleasantly surprised at how I managed to stay on my bearings :). Then did route choice exercise back to the cars. The route choice was a bit slower as the ground was really uneven from the cows, it was hilly and hot in the farmland.

Orienteering 28:08 [5] 3.51 km (8:01 / km)

Intervals. Went pr good and were a lot of fun. Had a swim in the river at the end, was so good

Friday Jan 19 #

Running 25:10 [3] 5.44 km (4:38 / km)
shoes: Asics DS trainer 22

Top of the road and back, still adjusting to the humidity/heat

Thursday Jan 18 #

Running 41:27 [3] 8.1 km (5:07 / km)

Block run.
This run was destined to not go great from the beginning.
Accidentally put merino socks on. Stepped out the door, and crickey! humidity wrekt me. About 3.5km in my feet got really hot, uncomfortably hot, so I stopped and took my shoes and socks off, this helped. Got the stitch shortly after, then in the last 3km I had a sore stomach, Had to walk a bit and stop a bit. My mum ended up driving past I gave her my shoes cos my feet were hot again with 2km to go, and ran the rest of the road in bare feet.

My ear was better today, stomach was worse, but overall felt not too bad. Also I still have to unpack :/

Wednesday Jan 17 #

Running 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)

Got back to NZ early this morning, woohoo.
Wasn't feeling too great today, my bro has been sick for the past week, but I have been feeling good (just tired), but what do you know it comes to the morning I leave and I feel like i'm coming down with something -.- with a couple of flights ahead of me including a 13 hour one from Santiago to Auckland I wasn't expecting it to get better any time soon, especially because I don't sleep well on planes (does anyone?). The flying mucked my ear a bit and it hurt all day and I couldn't hear properly, but overall I didn't feel a whole lot worse, just a blocked nose, a slight cough and uneasy stomach. I was unsure as to whether to go for a run, but I talked to Heidi and she convinced me to go for a run. Decided to drive to the beach (note, I mean the ocean. and why not when its only 30 min away?). Pretty windy day, but man it was good! Run was average, ran 12 min up beach in the head wind on firm sand, then ran 8 min back majority on the soft sand with a little bit on firm.
Distance is an estimate as I haven't unpacked yet, that is tomorrows job.
