Running race (Silverton Alpine 50K) 5:35:00 [5] 31.0 mi (10:48 / mi)

Race went great from pace to nutrition I never felt better in a race!
Starting conservatively in mountain races is key.
I maintained the pace that I train at and adjusted my effort accordingly.
On the flats at the beginning of the race I maintained a good pace while not pushing. Really focused on being consistent.
I power hiked most of the long ascent. I am getting faster and faster at power hiking quickly. I felt really strong going uphill even though I did feel the altitude (the ascent was above 11 000ft. That saved my energy as we talked about and I was able to go all out on the last 10 miles downhill.
Was struggling a bit on the flatter parts of the last 10 miles as they were a few. I would stop and walk for a few seconds and go back and run fast right after. Pushed hard during this last section though and did puke from the effort as I finished.
I think I found the perfect nutrtion for 50Ks at least. This time I drank more while taking gels and that did the trick.
Felt great.
Gels every hour.
