Event: ROC - Powder Mills Park

Orienteering race 1:32:45 [5]*** 6.1 km (15:12 / km) +220m 12:53 / km
spiked:11/18c shoes: Nike Air Terra Humara
Enjoyed the Red O at Powdermill Park. Overall I could feel my strength waning as time wore on - after 25 minutes I remember taking a small physical break, but it appears my mind took a break too, with a bad strategy and execution for 6. Later after an hour out, I pretty much had to shift into energy conservation mode and did recover a bit. Found water after 15 and that made a difference. (probably have to consider a hydration plan, but I'm usually good for an hour without)

Made aggressive decisions with the marshes and they all pretty much worked out though I lost a pair of sunglasses. (Though this is also about the first time I've actually crossed on the trails)

Notables:
2 to 3 I see I'm faster than Gil - I found a good tree that I scampered across for 2/3rds of the way. If Gil slogged through the whole way that would have been slower.

4 - I spent a bunch of time getting to the rootstock with the orange streamer and then cutting back to find the flag.

9 - went down the wrong valley.

14 - I "felt" I was tending right, and corrected, only to end up way left of what I wanted... Gotta watch for that in the future. (but otherwise a reasonable set of controls on the course)

18 - Thought I was in the right spot, but took much too long to pick this control up. Ended up pulling out towards the field and relocating - success soon after that.

Missed some splits but think I lined them up. Have to compare again after Mike gets his in.
Dance 1:00:00 [1]
Show to benefit the Shepherd home, nice turnout.
