Orienteering race (Score-O) 56:52 [4] *** 6.5 km (8:45 / km)
spiked:15/16c shoes: Nike Air Terra Humara

Genesse Valley Park Score-O, warm and humid day. My plan at the start was to grab 7 and then work the river to 11 - I might have thought the road was a viable "non-golf course" path, and after the gate was locked, I thought the trail along the river was a fine alternate - until I saw Nate coming back...

This was about a 3 minute loss back to 7...

The route was then 4, 3, 5, 6, 2, 9.

I didn't see 1 in the field or I might have grabbed it then. Looking now, I don't see a big difference either way.

I jumped from 9 to the road and then reached 16. I started on, but lost the trails from 16 to 15 as the one oops of the day. I kept working the right direction and came out to the larger trails and made out ok. Certainly a few minutes of lost time there.

14 and 13 came easily - I estimated 8 "forefinger" segments to the end and thought that if I could get from 15 to 14 under 4 minutes I'd be ok to get the remaining controls - and was happy to get there under that time.

I was following another runner towards 12, but they never left the road. I was fairly certain I knew where the bend was, but kept on the road - and was absolutely certain I reached the next bend - and took off into the woods at an angle to hit the road or trail - and did so, scoring 12,

The trip back picked up 11, 10, 8, then 1. Guessing distance based on Mike's log...

Orienteering race (Sprint) 21:32 [4] 3.26 km (6:36 / km)
spiked:8/8c shoes: Nike Air Terra Humara

Genesee Valley Park Sprint, warm day - after an hour of score-O;-)

Nice sprint though it shared several controls with the Score-O. Bit of a bobble after 2 when an unmapped parking lot caused me to check that I really wanted to go that direction. (the bridges can get one turned around a bit)

I think I held a very tight line from 5 to 6 across the large open area. I noticed Stina coming into 6 from the paved path on the right.

I took the second bridge to 7, and that path instinctively looks shorter to me - Mike and Nate took the first and then the road bridge coming down into the control.

I'll enter splits later on.

Morning Run 1:30:00 [3] 9.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Nike Air Terra Humara

Able to get out for a long run today - setup camp last night for a youth group (high school age) - they were biking out from Irondequoit to Hamlin beach (25mi) today and spending the next few days out there. To run this long in the park, one must go to one end of the park and then along the beach to the opposite end, and then around a bit. FDFs an issue...
