Orienteering race (Ski-O) 1:15:45 [4] 10.5 km (7:13 / km)

Mendon Ski-O on the red course.

Significant running on legs to 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 - along the road, through the woods, up and down the hills.

Able to skate well on legs to 4, 5, 6, and 8.

Mix of styles otherwise - Mike was right;-) (But I don't dislike any of the styles, so it was interesting)

It would be interesting to find out others paths - I cut through, along, up, and down sections on all the controls noted as running above. It didn't look like a reasonable skiable path presented itself.

Skis definitely felt slow - must be the wax (or lack there-of). Pamper beat me by a minute...

No miscues and solid navigation throughout. No use of a compass - realized I didn't have one with me half way through and never really considered needing it. One bad leg choice returning to the cabin (left to the road felt easier but was longer and not as skiable).

I went out early, so not much available in the way of tracks and such.

Great day though, enjoyed it.

Orienteering (Ski-O) 45:00 [1] 2.5 km (18:00 / km)

Went back out with Melissa on her first Ski-O and first significant outing on XC skis. She did very well. When we left her time was in 4th of 8 finishers. I punched for us, but she made all navigational choices except for deciding between two alternate routes from 4 to 5. [I guided her to a longer distance, but more gradual climbs / descents route]
