After advice from Dad at the cross country race last week he suggested I look at my stride length. Found out today that it was quite long when counting so took a metronome and put the beeps on 170 bpm for ~a third of the run and then up to the ideal 150 bpm for the rest. Finding it difficult to get my feet moving that fast but definitely something to keep doing.
