Orienteering 1:13:09 [3] 10.0 km (7:19 / km) +284m 6:24 / km

NGOC League 3 - Parkend

In all honesty it was a pretty boring course on a quite overgrown area. The brambles were everywhere but seldom bad enough that it was better to avoid them.

Lost time on 1 through not understanding why none of the vegetation was mapped before the valley. 5 not confident about where I was on the path. 15 ended up on the lower path and had the climb through lots of brambles to get up. 18 hesitant coming across as didn't know how high up the slope I was. Could probably have been at least 5 minutes faster without these mistakes but splitsbrowser seems to think I didn't lose as much time as other people so managed to avoid anything major.

Ended up 4th behind Ben, Clive and Peter.

Western Night League - Minchinhampton Common

Set out, like I always do, with the intention of clearing all the controls. On reflection this might be a bit foolish as I have never actually done it within the time limit but there will be at least one chance this year, perhaps at Kenfig.

Had also already decided that from the start I wanted to go west as I wanted to attack the woods from the west rather than the east. So set out on a clockwise loop. Got to the woods without any issues, lucky to find the control in the marsh and then the woods were quite slow going. Got badly trapped by a bramble wall exiting at the north end and then ran down a driveway so lost 2-3 minutes and the chance of the clear at this point.

Sprint around the rest of the controls on the common, just missing out 10 points near the finish. Or so I thought, turns out I also missed one in the woods but still only beaten by Ben I think.

I think I have been here 5 times now and it is a bit harder at night but not that much as you can run in perfectly straight lines and they use reflectors.

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Note

Feeling completely wiped out after work. Been feeling this way the last few weeks, looking forward to a break over Christmas but the pressure is mounting.

Note

Really enjoyed French today. New word of note « divulgacher » and feeling confident with different past tenses.

UBOC Social - Pizza Making

Went really well I think. 800g of tomatoes was only just enough sauce. About 1.5 bases per person is a good number.

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Running 16:15 [3] 2.4 km (6:46 / km) +75m 5:51 / km

Warm-up down to the harbour

Running 31:30 [3] 7.7 km (4:05 / km)

8 x 3 mins (1)

Only three of us doing intervals again. Me, Dan and Chris. Moving fairly well but lacking the push to get into maximum effort. Harbour loop was good, close to uni and worked well with different abilities.

Running 15:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:00 / km) +70m 8:06 / km

Warm down back to uni. Dan decided on a very rogue route through Brandon Hill.

UBOC Monday to Knowle West

Decent number of people out. Went up a path I had not been up before somewhere near Ravenhill Road before ending up at the top of Novers Steps and then back past the swimming pool.
