Lightning Tree Hill - NGOC 50th Birthday Weekend

Enjoyable new FoD area. Worked out in the start box which way the courses would go so smashed it off to #1 with nearly the fastest split. Then not a very aggressive line to #2 cost me any momentum. Got going again on the way to 5 then really pleased to actually attack the long leg for the first time in my life and pick the right option to the north.

Small mistakes at 8 and 15 (1 min) but had good terrain speed overall. Need to work on keeping the intensity high for the whole race.

Was looking forward to getting mopped up by a train at some point but was on my own for the whole way. The Whipple train was the one to be on today as he had a great run.

Didn't feel the same fatigue as last week so the iron supplements must already be working. Nice weekend in the sunny forest and feeling motivated to program at the weekend for the first time in a while.

Knockalls West - NGOC 50th Birthday Weekend

Good to be back in the forest after a few weeks of minimal running. In tow, James and Nick aiming to lay their mark on the NGOC forest. Nice to catch up with them.

Expected the rocky areas to be a bit trickier but was all very runnable so could get up some nice speed. A slip on 12 from trying to go a bit too straight and a few other bramble induced wobbles. Really enjoyed it.

Thursday Jan 16 #

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Return of the rain. Spring is going to be a shock.

Wednesday Jan 15 #

Blood test in the morning which reported low ferritin levels so time to get on the iron supplements.

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Nice evening.

Tuesday Jan 14 #

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Nice and toasty cycling back but still nearly hit by a car on the "safe" route.

Running 56:18 [3] 10.5 km (5:22 / km)

Was feeling ok during the day so wanted to test my recovery again after a 4 day rest. First time down at Whitehall track and think I will keep coming down here for reps. The group is a bit faster but still no one under the age of 35, running is more for the dads it seems in Bristol.

Another warm evening, 6 * 1km and hitting about 3:26 for each rep.

Monday Jan 13 #

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Just a nice amount of rain tonight after missing the deluge. Feeling better than the weekend and blood test booked for Wednesday morning.
