Tour of Torpantau Fell Race

Clag down and compass out for the first climb up the hill where I had decided it looked better to go directly up west of the stream. Not too far behind Matt going this way so looked a decent option with a bit of a better line next time.

Knew that to have any chance of beating Dan I would have to drop him on the climbs but he was still with me at the top of Fan y Big where I didn't get the best line down and he got away. Climb up to Cribyn was much longer than I expected and calves were burning at the top.

Went off the path a bit early across the moor, when apparently there was a nice trod further along, one to remember for next time. Also went down the last descent too early but I was just following Gary for that!

Get back to the car park to see Ben already changed with the course record in hand, but no sign of Dan who limped into the car park a few minutes later before walking to CP3 and then back.

Need to get some more times in the mountains for hill fitness as was a bit lacking on the uphills. Great day out overall, looking forward to the next one.

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Witnessed an interesting move through Castle Park today. Someone who clearly looked like they knew how to commute cut up to the right before the lights at the end. Crossed the road into the right turning traffic and then back onto the cycle path on Baldwin St.

I can't imagine how this route is any more efficient but at least now I will think about it every morning. Perhaps the goal was to move from in-front of me to behind me and if so, it worked a treat.

Running 1:04:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:49 / km)

Ashton Court loop in the sunshine with Dan and Josiah.

The terrain is in great condition at the moment. Decided on going back up for another descent at the far end but slipped and cut my knee open on a rock. Not even this small incident could dampen the enjoyment of a warm spring day.

Cycling 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Got passed by someone near the start of the cycle patch who then put in a big effort to drop me.. before I caught them up again just before getting home. Can never understand this, Marcus would also not be impressed.

Also realised today that the light sequence from Castle Park is not very good for the unclip mission. Unless you cross the lights right at the end of the green period at Castle Park, by the time to get the fountains the lights going straight are still green there. So you end up waiting on the fountains and again to get across, It's much better if they are red so you can cross Baldwin St as then you can get across to Colston Hall without a big wait.
