Running 47:57 [3] 9.0 km (5:20 / km) +105m 5:02 / km

Run around Chandler's Ford getting to know the parks, paths and marshes.
I was pleasantly surprised by how many parks and woods there are, certainly not lacking in mud. Did a loop down to Knight Wood and back, and only got stumped by one uncrossable fence.

Orienteering 1:50:00 [3] 11.6 km (9:29 / km) +200m 8:44 / km

Two loops in Highland Water checking some tapes for an upcoming event. Quite a bit trickier than I remembered from November Classic 2017, took me a while to get into finding some quite dubious depressions. Lovely to run through the terrain here and Highland Water was much appreciated to clean my shoes at the halfway point.

Blorenge Night Roundabout

Needed an anti-corona antidote and famous Blorenge seemed about as good as anything. The climb through the woods at the start was still sheltered but making progress on the long traverse was a challenge with all the wind and rain.

Just about kept running until the top of the climb but ran out of gas. Felt like I was flying with the tailwind on the way back before starting to make good progress on the descent. Got a really bad stitch which is quite unusual near the bottom of the first descent which meant I got passed by two people but recovered enough to push down the final technical path to hold off another chaser.

Still felt like I was mincing the descent a bit but perhaps getting better as not many faster than me down there today and a lot of bloodied legs at the finish. Great race for a Wednesday evening. HR was over 190 for basically the whole race which is surprising if true. Not sure it should be possible to hold in Z5 for 50 minutes..

Had to decide to cancel the trip to Belgium after returning home, which as I write this on Monday, was an extremely wise decision.

Running 6:23 [3] 0.9 km (7:06 / km) +73m 5:03 / km

Warm up recce to see the tunnel with Ben passing on all his top tips.

Tuesday Mar 10 #

Running 57:40 [3] 10.0 km (5:46 / km) +126m 5:25 / km

"Road" run to Trooper's Hill with some exploring of new roads. Found quite a good climb up from the bottom of Trooper's Hill road. Also found a sodden field in Trooper's Hill and some evidence of recent excavations whose purpose is to determine why the field is so wet. I await their findings.

Monday Mar 9 #

Running 1:00:05 [3] 9.8 km (6:08 / km) +171m 5:38 / km

Run from Keith's to Blaise Castle, I was apparently in charge and so we went up the Beech Grove in homage to Ifor. Managed to further resolve the Twmbarlwm mystery with the man himself. I now consider the case closed. Quite wet, but not too cold.
