Orienteering race 27:11 [4] *** 4.1 km (6:38 / km)

Gotland 3-dagers day 3 chasing start

Started in a bit of a black hole with no-one around me so no distractions. Was good until 3 where I was to the right of the hill and I thought that I was to the left, realised when I saw my minute man going the other way so got it and started to really push, with a long tracky leg my ankle started hurting again so i decided to run harder so that it would be over quickerI caught him and we were together from there, I got just ahead on the next few and then he got a better line to the second last one so I destroyed myself and we were together at the last control (which we sent flying) and I destroyed him on the run in.

Note to self: Dont get distracted and don't look back to mistakes

Orienteering race 22:20 [4] *** 3.8 km (5:53 / km)

Gotland 3 dagers day 2

Had a really good smooth run using the really obvious marshes and not so obvious contours to navigate, was perfect until on the way to 7 i saw someone having a heart attack so needless to say it threw me off for the next few legs, just missing most of them and not entirely with it. Overall a really good run and deffo enjoyed the area more than yesterday.

Note to self: Pick out the obvious features and use them and recover from being badly put off.

Orienteering race 29:48 [3] **** 2.8 km (10:39 / km)

Gotland 3 dagers day 1

Started out with the ankle a bit sore so was slightly cautious running and just didn't get into it missing most of them, especially 2 where i lost a couple of minutes because of a dodgy bearing from pretty much nothing. Lots more good learning about Gotlandi forests generated........ Should have pushed a bit harder but ach weel.

Note to self: Keep motivated even if the forest is horrible and just remember that everyone else is doing the same thing.

Orienteering 30:00 [3] **** 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

Corridor training at Idre Sodre south, Nailed the first few controls of the corridor before going a good 250m offline on 4 but somehow managed to recover and get back on line, really nice area by Gotland standards (relentlessly grim if it was anywhere else) overall really happy with relocating off of nothing.

Note to self: Know that you are drifting one way/aim off

Orienteering 30:00 [3] ***** 1.5 km (20:00 / km)

Blank map exercise with Joel, one had blank map and the other had a map with nothing on it for if you got completely lost, swapped every leg. nailed 1 perfect ended up by the coast for 3 but remembered roughly where on the map I was for the line course and managed to take a bearing across half a block and nail the boulder :) cut back from the last control as we didn't have enough time nailed it though.

Note to self: remember to find big obvious feature to relocate form and trust bearings more.

Orienteering 33:06 [4] *** 4.5 km (7:21 / km)

Gotland 2 dagers OM8

Good area, tracked up wonderfully so just pointed compass the right way and followed the trod.... was good until 4 where there was an unmapped boulder in the circle so stood with a group of 15+ confused swedes until someone pointed us the right way, lost 30+ secs and caught up Joel. Nailed the rest of them along the trods and Joel lost me going to 5, rough open and ankle still a bit dodgy so not running too hard. Really good run, hopefully keep this going......

Note to self: use trods but look at map+compass even more
