S+C 30:00 [1]
slept:7.5

Very sore from yesterday but not Doing to much today. Don’t have a roller with me so just rubbing the sore bits, seems to do the same thing. Passed some more crazy huge mega-cities on the train with city regions with at least 50+ 30 story apartment blocks - starting to understand how over 1 billion people can live here. Not a huge breakfast again cuz of lack of very edible food. Didn’t sleep well, kept waking up every 30mins

Running 1:30:00 [4] 8.2 km (10:59 / km) +600m 8:02 / km
slept:6.5 shoes: Nike Pegs

Beds last night were some of the most uncomfortable ever so didn’t sleep well, my punctured carry mat would be comfier. Pre-brekky sunrise ‘run’ around the huge concrete stair network did some viewpoint pin-ball for the first bit trying to avoid the crowds and then went for some distance and pics. Knees feeling dreadful but could walk up he stairs about as fast as they were running. Missing brekky pretty much the whole way.

Walking 4:30:00 [3] 14.5 km (18:37 / km) +800m 14:36 / km
shoes: Nike Pegs

Started off straight after the run with a small brecky due to a lack of particularly appetising food at the ‘hotel’ went out to some cool paths sticking out of cliffs and then all the way back up, beyond where we went for the run to the very top of the mountain. Starting to get hungry at this point so bought some snacks at one of the many shops/hotels in the middle of the mountains. Part of the way Down on the way back Joel managed to twist his ankle trying to jump down a flight of stairs so it took even longer to go back as he had to basically be carried down. Got some more lovely appetising Chinese food had some of everything then ate rice and raviolli things. Knees, Achilles, ITBs and something inside the leg above knee were very sore by the end . Found a few more new flavours of Fanta with the new leader being peach. No naps today and around 12000+ Concrete steps in the last 24hrs Then header back to Huangshan to our hotel

Walking 1:30:00 [3] 4.2 km (21:26 / km) +950m 10:03 / km
slept:10.5 shoes: Nike Pegs

First good sleep on the trip, absolutely knackered, also 2hrs of the sleep were a nap on the train. Walking up a pretty massive mountain range on huge ‘Perfect’ concrete stairs. Very strange but turns out there are 10s - 100s of km of these in the mountain range, some huge tourist attraction I guess. Once we got to the top realised that there are hotels and shops everywhere connected by more of these wierd paths. Knees pretty sore by the top and then had some more traditional food for dinner, tried a bit of everything except the red meat and then filled up on rice. All in the Huangshan mountains

Note

Not sure how to do this with time zones but here’s a run down of the last few days. Flew down to Heathrow with Oscar after the morning run then got to Heathrow and sat around for a few hours, eventually got through security and then sat in duty-free for an hour or so with our flight being delayed wasn’t looking possible to get our connection but there was still hope. But then when we got on the plane it was delayed more so we knew we wouldn’t get our connecting flight. Got to Frankfurt and sat around for another couple of hours to get accommodation and food sorted then walked to the hotel only to find it was a different one of the same brand so didnt get to the hotel until 1:30 then didn’t get to sleep until 3 cuz of earlier naps. Slept about 3.5 hours then got up for our new flight, this time to Paris which was fun, got to Paris and had to get our tickets and stuff so were cutting it fine then eventually got through passport control before being told we couldn’t board cuz Lufthansa had’nt given us the boarding passes eventually sorted this out thinking we would miss it but turned out they held the flight for us. Then was bored out of my mind for 11hours, only managed to sleep 2hrs despite trying every 10mins got to Shanghai and found our bags hadn’t arrived and were in the next flight in 2.5hours time which was of course then delayed further slept another 2hrs. Then got the maglev to the centre hitting an easy 300kmh. Wandered around Shanghai for a bit and got some street food then got a 2hr train to some other city where we stayed, had to stand so don’t sleep. Knees very very sore by the end of all this. And I ran out of painkillers already
8 PM

Note

walking 2hrs
Around Hangzou along to its lake and then to a lot-up temple that looked close Several kms and lots of climb later we got there only to find it was pay to enter. Knees even more painful.
