Running race 55:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:00 / km)

Preact
10 WU
6km race came 18th in the D3 and ran 25:05.5
15 CD

Today I had an awesome race! I met the goal of leaving it out there. It was ridiculously hot out and I was sweating hard. I was working on pushing the downhills and picking people off but then the effort drastically increased and I was just focusing on trying to run more efficiently and using the downhills. I was in a lot of pain from about 4km onwards. I was working it hard. I came down the finishing stretch and I was giving it all I had. My arms and hands went numb and I kept closing my eyes. I got to the finish and things get blurry about what happened for the next few minutes. I remember sitting in a tent for some time completely out of trying to regain my balance. I got up and couldn't walk completely straight. I was bumping into people and also having some brain fog. It was an odd feeling but it felt good too push myself. We were running our cooldown in our barefeet when they started announcing the top finishers from the race. I thought to myself "I want to come top 20 one day" then they called my name! I turned into phoebe from friends and was exuberant. That day was today. Both rebekkah and I got to stand up on the stage and we got socks!. I went back to go get my stuff and was completely disoriented. I didn't believe my phone was mine and was getting all emotional. The girls helped me get my stuff together and we headed for the van. It was a hot morning full of a spectrum of emotion and a great start to my university career! I am grateful for the team and everyone on it and can't wait to see where we go!!

Preact
heel walks
toe walks
heel drops
roll
Good run today. My leg was less sore than last week it is slowly getting better. I felt like I was moving better today. I like the feel of barefoot running even though it feels more taxing on my Achilles.

Elliptical 15:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)

I did 5min extra running so that I would time it to be on the ellipticals up stairs. My stride rate was faster than it was last week and everything was feeling good.

Cycling 15:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)

Good spin on the bike. I really worked up a good sweat. My seat was at a better height this week.

Strength 15:00 [3]

After the cardio segment this morning we did 3 sets of drills and 3 strides
Basic Strength
Stretch
Roll
Ended with a 10min ice tub

Running 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Nice little shakeout after dinner today. Blake freshly taped me up for the weekend. I had an appointment with Jo and we worked on my hips which is going to be our project for the next little while. Apparently my hip situation is worse than my calves, just my calves are the one taking the toll of what is happening at my hips.

Strength 25:00 [3]

After my shakeout today I did some strength and hip mobility
Did heel walks, calf walks, heel raises
Hip theraband exercises
Some arms
Pullups

I iced before I went to bed

Preact
roll
toe and heel walks
15WU
1 full loop 12:16
2 half loops 6:06, 6:12

Today was a good wednesday effort. I pushed and was grateful to be done I was hands on knees by the end. My legs didn't open up today but I was pushing. I wore my spikes for the first time for any substantial distance. It felt awkward running on the hard parts of the trail but really good on the softer parts. I want to break them in a bit more and get used to them.

Strength 20:00 [3]

Hip mobility
Sit and push
3 x 10 heel drops

Strength 15:00 [3]

Drills on land- Learned the B with focus being tall and snapping the foot down beneath you
4 strides (75, 85, 85, 95)
Basic Strength

Pool Workout 45:00 [3] 4.5 km (10:00 / km)

Preact
Heel raises and calf walks
Okie dokie ball
6mins of front crawl and kicking
Drills
Pool workout #3 (3 sets of 3 reps of 70s hard 20s easy with 50s between sets)
7min deep water running
Had a good pool workout today. I woke up before my alarm feeling pretty awake. I was really focusing on driving my knees during the intervals. I felt my hip flexors more throughout the entire workout compared to last week. I really went for it for the last rep and I positioned my body on a slight diagonal and seeing everyone else killing it really forced me to push. My HR was 24/25 this week. The deep water running is feeling less awkward as the weeks progress.

Running (off-day) 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Had a good off-day run with Maxie at the tree farm. My achilles didnt bug me at all which I was happy and grateful for. We had some good chats and I love exploring the running gems that Thunder Bay has to offer.
Did hip mobility on a tiny patch of grass and got some weird looks from the tree farm users.

Running tempo 55:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:00 / km)

Preact
2 x 10 of bridge and donkey kicks
15min WU
20min
15min CD

Today the legs were feeling pretty flat. I definitely had the effort but my legs just weren't responding. My hips felt tight and weren't opening up to a nice efficient stride. It felt tight and short. I worked hard. My stomach was bugging me but I tried to not think about it and just get the work done. The last half of the tempo went by pretty quickly. I was feeling pretty tired from the day but I didn't let that get to me and tried to just focus on fast and relaxed running.

"With great discomfort, comes great reward" Rebekkah in the ice tub.

Strength 15:00 [3]

Hip mobility
4 x 12 pushups, 12 squats
Stretch and roll
Ice tub after dinner with Rebekkah.

Running long 1:17:30 [3] 15.5 km (5:00 / km)

nice long run today. I got lost over on the BMX trails and did multiple loops always ending back on the path by the portipotty which I now know is only a few mins away from the chalet... I just had to cross the street. The trails were fun and challenging. I liked the exploration and adventure I went on. Although I nearly are it multiple times. The achilles was feeling pretty good, nothing too painful only a bit of soreness closer to the end but it wasn't consistent.
Also did sets of lunges prior to the run.

We had our first team meeting today and talked about continuing applying the knowledge, having a good schedule, keeping up with the little things, grit and going for it, and daily review of the manual.

This week I am going to make an effort to be in bed by at least 10pm I had a few later nights this week. I still got around 8hrs but I function better on more.

I am also going to focus on pushing boundaries and my comfort zones to see where I can go. This week was better than last but there is still a LOT of room for improvement.

Strength 15:00 [3]

Hip mobility
Push and Sit (50 pushups and 120 ab exercises)
4 x (1min of each plank) *my watch was on a minute timer so I did 1 for all
15 bird dogs on each leg with the emphasis on reaching
15 hydrants each leg with the focus being maximum range of motion while keeping the movement in control.
10 single leg dead lifts with only 1 lava boot and 2 lava gloves. The focus was on not having the free leg touch the ground and keeping arms by ears.
stretch and roll

Running (shakeout) 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Nice shakeout on the river trails everything feeling pretty good. Ended with hip mobility and heel raises. Then iced in the tub for 10min.
