UH-kampen, OK Motala long distance competition
Started off slow, body feeling quite tired from yesterdays race. The ground was soft and there were huge amounts of debris from clearings in the forest. This and the fact that I missed the first control due to really bad mapping made me unmotivated. I got caught to the first control by "Röjsågen" and tagged along for a few controls before I decided to at least move from slow jogging to running in the forest. I managed to restrain myself from doing big mistakes on 4-5 controls but then reality was fucked up big time by the mapper (Who obviously hasn't been in that area). The control area around the 9th control was drawn beyond my wildest imagination and it took some time guessing where the course planner had put the control. I was once again jogging behind "Röjsågen" through thick green areas (which was marked as nice white forest of course) for a few controls until I decided to at least try to do some proper orienteering out of this green expedition. I took off for the last time and actually managed to run away from Röjsågen with about 3 min and secured a surprising 2nd place! (4' behind Kantarp).
The terrain wasn't all that bad. It was just the course planner who kept using shitty areas for controls and not the nice ones that we just passed on our way to a new shitty area. The terrain would have worked perfectly if one would have used the nice areas for controls instead of the other way around.
