Note
(rest day)

Avalanche School. 6 hours classroom....3 hours shoveling. Backcountry skiing doesn't really look like my bag all of a sudden. Silverton Avalanche School Instructors are both hilarious and spine chillingly overwhelming in the same breath. Learnt a ton today.
Had a beer with Father-in-Law tonight and happened to bump into two lads in the 506 (Band of Brothers fame). One went to Westpoint. Had a very interesting conversation. Good people.
Very nervous on my current amount of inactivity.

More traffic survey and regular stuff. -18C this morning. Very cold by two too. Very long day today. No running on the cards until Monday.
On a side note anyone been following the tiff taking place on the WUOC thread? Yurets could be the biggest Bellend I've ever encountered on the internet. Not that I've encountered many. While we're bragging about our coaches here's mine from when I was a Professional Wedgey Puller.

He had Biceps bigger than Putin's jelly belly on that calendar. It's amazing what pulling on underpants can do to arm muscles.
Truly incredible behaviour.

I forgot about this. Had to do a traffic survey at rush hour above town. I was cold, so decided to yomp all over the hillside for an hour. Timed it. Not training though.

Alpine Skiing 3:30:00 [3]

No work, more powder. Managed to ski (poorly) the whole of Mammoth without an air break. First time in 21 years of trying. Now to ski it well.
Out with Lewy and Chip who basically fell top to bottom of Kant-Mak-Em on their skates. They'll be suffering tomorrow.
Legs were heavy to start. Now they're dead. Over a foot fell today. I keep saying every powder day is the best.....but, seriously...this was the.....

Alpine Skiing 1:30:00 [3]

Went out with the Bairns. Legs were smashed. So when Eadie wanted to bail early I took it. Lovely day. Snow was perfect for the warm conditions.
10 AM

Nordic (skate) 1:24:00 [3] 17.78 km (4:43 / km) +78m 4:37 / km
ahr:98 max:140

Had a small amount of DOMS working after the 2 mile descent yesterday. So opted to make the LSD Nordic. The snow this morning was perfect. In the sun and the shade. Cruised around.Tried a few things. Normally stuff pops in my head, but today was just perfect. Very happy averaging close to 7:30/mile. Never broken 8 mins before, for any length of ski. HR is still a mystery. 98 average for the effort put in??

Running 1:00:02 [3] 9.82 km (6:07 / km) +395m 5:05 / km

Bit of exploring this morning. Heard there was a county maintained sport climbing area in Bilk Creek so reccyed it. Ended up at the foot of Wilson Mesa. Breathtaking views from there. Didn't see a soul out. Although at the top there was an amazing house enjoying the same views.
The afternoon was fun. Took in the Ouray Ice Festival and went to the Hot Springs. Both were fantastic. The Springs were very hot and the ice climbing had about 3000??? watching. Excellent entertainment for free.
