LSD....planned to get over the ridge to see Navajo Lake from Woods Lake. Didn't even make the treeline. At 10,000' I started postholing and losing the trail. Should have known better to run on a north facing slope so early. Diverted back towards Lone Cone trail and salvaged something of the run. Beautiful terrain. First time ever I tooled up for a run. Carried a pocket knife. Mountain Lion have been spotted around Telluride recently and with this area being so remote and known to have a Canada Lynx, Bobcat and Bear presence, I thought it prudent. I was probably the first human in the area since November looking at the tracks. Lone Cone was the same, but as I descended I bumped into two mountain bikers who were about to bump into the first of many snow fields.

Note
(rest day)

Once again I had terrible knee pain all day. Shifted the Long Run for tomorrow. Got a good one lined up, snow melt cooperating.
Monday's weather looks lousy and I've decided to work. The past three weeks have been incredible.

Strange one this. Felt really good this morning. Set off steady and progressively began to push it. I had to walk large chunks of the climbs. The switch backs were extremely tight and technical on the descent so took them cautiously. Made a mistake at the Owl Gulch/Jud Wiebe junction and headed down towards Tomboy RD for 30 secs before a turn back. Another Strava segment substituted for an Interval sesh. This time I nabbed a CR by quite a large margin and it could have been by even more. Celebrated by grabbing the girls and dragging them round Jud Wiebe.

Note
(rest day)

Finished work early. Found out I'm off tomorrow, so bailed on the run. My left knee hasn't recovered from Tuesday. Needs an extra day and some pills.

Planned this. Shattered after a long day in Sawpit. This will be the last week of gainful employment for a while. Paw Paw is leaving for his new camper van and school finishes. So I've told them I'll work mornings or as needed. Need to spend more time with the bairns. Kendal completed 6x200m tonight. She's actually getting serious about running. I'm a very happy dad.

This was supposed to be 2x 15 mins @ Threshold. But I scouted about Strava and found two segments I want to start having a crack at. Todays was Jud Wiebe Trail. I've never ran it clockwise and not for five years probably. So after work I went for it. Total pain and suffering the first half. Loved the descent (it's also part of The Deep Creek 1/2 the descent). Found the bridge above Cornet Falls has been taken out by an avalanche. This was the first time since Deep Creek I've really pushed the downhills. Looking at Strava, I'm only 30secs off Timmy Parr's (5 time IPR winner) descent but obviously all my concentration needs to be put into ascending. In summary, I like replacing long intervals with racing a long Strava segment. You can look at way more statistics.....Although Ebbe Skevdahl (Aberdeen's old Norwegian manager) once said of statistics...."Yes they're very much like a mini skirt.....they show you a lot.......but they don't show you what you really want to see!" This was on BBC Scotland. Classic.
