Kendal wasn't feeling it when we got there, so took the opportunity to finish putting tapes out. I was wrong about the seasonal streams. In places they don't exist. #6 case in point. Moved it. #7 also, but I left it.
Much better all round. Beginning to understand the subtleties of the veg/contours. My compass was dead on. Really pleased. Keep coming across all sorts of random features. Usually depressions/earthwalls that used to be livestock watering holes.

2 hours digging out the cellar path for the HOA. A little on the warm side.

LSD from my house with Glenn. Penelope's, Iron Mtn Spur, Penelope's. Bewt of a morning. He said we went a little quick, but it's difficult to judge. He's a good climber and I like descending. I found it perfect, so he's probably right.

Bean Canyon South
Went down to Boggy Draw to try and hang tapes for Kendal on Sunday. Disaster. Went off happy and found #1, but I had forgot to press start at the start for O-range to register I'd started from the warm up period. Then the wheels properly came off. I checked the watch (cheated) to see if things were ok and I wasn't going anywhere near #2. WTF?? Faffed about. Then bailed to the start. Then faffed with the watch....It had defaulted to ScoreO.

Easy back to the car. Blazing hot. (Not Texas, as hot as my pants, hot.) But I sank gallons of Gatorade back at the car.

Bean Canyon South
Started again. #1 was a piece of piss obviously. #2 cheated near the circle. 65m away. #3 completely blew it. (The reentrant was extremely vague) Bailed as I'd ran out off time.
NB. The map and area is brilliant. There's marshes, cliffs, boulders, gullies, depressions that all could be added. But is this the area? Is there better in other parts of Boggy Draw? Next few months will tell. The contours here are extremely vague and difficult to read (stunted oak masks the terrain). The best features are the seasonal stream beds by far, that are on the map.

Steady up Goose to Ophir Loop and back. Felt positive today. Stats say otherwise, but all was good. No knee problem. Just goodness.
NB. Shitist day in years, but the run completely made me smile. The catch up with Brent made it go even wider. Onwards.

4x10mins on Iron Mtn Spur. Cracking day....better afternoon. Haven't been wearing a HRM for a week. (Since the races up in Surebridge, MA, I've had major skin irritation from the strap. I'm going to the dermatologist next week so want to make it disappear.)
Love this run. Just quiet, lonely and stunning.
NB. Should've been a double, but met Eadie in Lawson and worked on some footie.
NNB. Greg worked his magic tonight and got the Boggy Draw map situation completely perfect. It's a masterpiece. Planned to go there tomorrow, but with the weather lousy on Friday.....that looks better.

Looong Day ended in a long nap. With all my stats going south at the moment and waking up with the cold symptoms from the past three weeks every night, I need this.
Back at it tomorrow.
