Walking 1:34:47 [3] 9.5 km (9:59 / km)
ahr:100 shoes: Salomon Speedcross 4 (7W)

Nice brisk hike with Francis at Shirley’s and beyond. Heel felt fine. Gorgeous morning, lots of birds - and a muskrat chomping away at pond ‘salad’. Saw some coyote scat (poor bunny...). Did a couple of random jogs at some points. Stayed cautious, though. We earned our Timmy’s breakfast on the way home :)
4 PM

Classical Stretch 45:00 [3]

Standard Stretch, but left out the side -leg- raises-on-the-mat work. Left heel a bit sore after some p.m. yardwork, so the stretching was helpful.

Cycling 1:56:52 [3] 40.45 km (2:53 / km)
ahr:108 max:145 shoes: Shimano WR61 clip-ins

Joined Francis on a great ride into Quebec for his first excursion on Walt!!! Hot, sunny day - perfect. We hit a lollypop stop on the rec path just after the 7k turn-around. That was a first! Waiting for oncoming ‘traffic’ (i.e. other cyclists and pedestrians) to pass until we got our ‘turn’!!! Hahahaha! Too funny.
Cycled out to the western sailing beach across the river. Beautiful route along the way. Wychwood area felt like another country.

Cycling 1:12:57 [3] 30.05 km (2:26 / km)
shoes: Shimano WR61 clip-ins

Western path; three Chipmunkazes encountered in Chipmunk Alley today! Weird dude in an OBC jersey dogging me. Back off, Knee Socks!!!
High HR 162. Felt tired after yesterday’s shed-building endurance event!
3 PM

Yard work 2:00:00 [4]
shoes: Merrell Ventilator-types

Massive reel mower lawn mowing workouts! Did Errol’s front and back lawns, and then ours. Some really good arm, calf, and core work - esp on E’s lawn (quite the bumpy, hilly challenge with a heavy Fiskars reel mower!). Hot day, lots of water. I was totally bagged in the evening and fell asleep - with snores aplenty, according to Francis. Hazel helped out by keeping the chipmunks out of my way :)

Note

Bloody hell!!! Spent 12 h with Francis building our shed (the ‘Tardis’) in the hot sun. A great workout, really, but PHEW!! Hot! I drank at least four bike bottles of water and only peed once!
Lots of lifting, etc. Quite the endurance and sanity challenge.

Walking 1:21:57 [2] 7.0 km (11:42 / km)
shoes: Merrell Ventilator-types

With Sandra on the south side to Woodroffe and back, then a little top-up in the neighbourhood to check on Errol’s lawn. Heel seemed OK in Merrells at this pace. HR 86 at finish, lower during most of walk. 6 min stop to chat at WHS gate on the way back.
4 PM

Classical Stretch 50:00 [3]

Super awesome stretch. Muscles felt really elastic. Strength has really improved overall. Hazel joined me for the last few minutes. ^^

Cycling 1:45:35 [4] 45.28 km (2:20 / km)
shoes: Shimano WR61 clip-ins

Along SJAMP to Lemieux Island detour (construction on SJAMP east of there, so closed to bikes)-rec path to the War Museum to turn-around. Then just stayed on the rec path all the way west to March Road. Turned around on Petrie, then came back home the usual way. Got in some good long intervals. Again, my legs didn’t feel fully ‘woke’ until about 18-20 km. Also felt saddle sore for that long, too. What is that, old age or something? Avge HR 142; high 164.
After learning more about bike fitting, I’m wondering if my old bike is a bit too small for me. Catching myself with my shoulders bunched up quite often. Hmmm.....
