slept:10.0 (rest day)

Really feel awful today. Slept 10h but still tired, dizzy, bad headache. I obviously overdid it this week and am paying the price with renewed conc symptoms. One step forward, two steps back...
2 PM

Two hour nap. Ringing in my ears, headache, fatigue. Crap.

Ice skating (Oval ice) 8:32 [3] *** 2.0 km (4:16 / km)
ahr:97 shoes: Solomon RS Vitane

Snowy morning! Francis and I checked out the 150m skating oval at Champlain Park, as discovered and vetted by Robbie. Really nice ice! My first time skating on an oval, so I didn’t know how I would fare on the turns - mostly coasted :D Have to watch my knees!!! :o
It was fun! We shovelled the fresh snow off for one lap to contribute to the community :)
11 AM

XC skiing (Skate) 51:31 [4] **** 8.54 km (6:02 / km) +60m 5:50 / km
ahr:101 max:175 shoes: Solomon RS Vitane

Tough effort skate skiing through 5-10 cm of fresh, rapidly-getting-wet-and-sticky snow on the OWWT. Francis, Andrew and I left Burke Rd and did our own thing for about an hour to enjoy the better part of the day. Sleet/rain/snow-pelleting by the time we left. Lots of friendly people out on the trail today. I’ll look forward to post-grooming conditions. It was slow slogging today; clumpy snow on the skis at the finish!

Yoga 15:00 [3]

Stretches and pushups

Snow Management (Big snow scoop) 26:45 [3]

Moved the new batch of snow off of the property, across the road, and into the woods. Hazel helped by watching me and digging in the snow for mice!

I think I got a chill yesterday. Headache, and felt really, really tired after my SandS session. Had a nap in the late afternoon. Got 10h of sleep last night! Needed it. Will take it easy today, and enjoy a nice walk later on with Tash and Haze :)
Drink lots of water!!!

Walking 55:35 [1] 3.46 km (16:04 / km)

Girl Time!! Tash and I walked Hazel at ML and Britannia. Beautiful sunny afternoon, 3C (w/c -1C). The beach and the frozen river were ‘one’!

XC skiing (Classic Skin) 27:44 [3] 3.47 km (8:00 / km) +53m 7:26 / km
ahr:135 max:155 shoes: Rossignol X-8 Classic boots

Short little ski with Francis to explore the Pimisi loop off the SJAM trail. Parked in the little lot near the old river house ruin on Onigam St. Very windy and windswept out there today (-3C but a blustery -10C w/c that felt somehow much colder!!!). The Pimisi sector is a fun little rolling section that is much better suited to skate skiing right now due to the amount of snow on the ground and the grooming that was possible.

Strength & Stretch 1:05:00 [3]

Good session. Felt a bit tired...

Ice skating (Nordic) 45:37 [3] 10.41 km (4:23 / km) +37m 4:18 / km
ahr:114 max:149 shoes: Solomon RS Vitane

Skated on the canal while Francis went for a run. Saw him at about 3 km in :D. I was happy with the outing in terms of getting some distance, practice, and cardio, but the ice was pretty crappy: bumpy, cracky, dirty, and lots of patches of ice corn-flakes. In the few stretches where I could get some speed and rhythm going, it was great. Started at Dow’s, turned around at U of O, where the ice got really bad. Lots of dirty truck tire tracks on the ice there too :(
Already getting kinda busy by 10:00.
Temp was -8C with a -15C w/c, but the wind felt a lot colder, esp heading NE, where the headwind was pretty strong.
Splits (including spots where I didn’t stop my watch, and sections of really bad ice): 5:18, 4.23, 4:34,, 4:25, 4:52, 3:42, 3:37, 3:43, 4:13, 4:48, 2:08 (for .41km).

ahr:85 max:142 shoes: Rossignol X-8 Classic boots

Brisk, challenging ski with Francis on the OWWT. Beautiful sunny day, cold at first (-14C, -19C w/c), but we warmed up on the way out to Watts Creek as the sun was in our faces. Bit of a wind on the way back, but just enough to cool the sweat down :D
Did an extra 500m up and down the Rifle Road hill to dial up the overall distance, with a 250m ‘Go Control!’ burst at the end :D
