Early-ish morning trek out to Fitzroy Prov Park for a solo ski while Andrew and Francis did their own thing too. Beautiful morning, with 10 cm of new snow and freshly-groomed tracks through the woods and campground. Pristine corduroy and perfectly set classic tracks for my Skins. Did two perimeter loops and one loop of the AMAZING campground loop. So much fun! Added another couple of km at the end to make up a good distance for my Tour.
The breeze kept nudging snow off the tree branches as I passed underneath them :) Temp was perfect: started off at -12C with a -19C w/c, which made the first loop faster, as the snow quickly warmed and softened up for the second loop. Great, meditative solo ski with a bit of extra weight in my fanny pack to give me a bit more of a challenge. Found the snaky trails made me a bit slower, but that’s OK because it made for a more scenic and slightly more technical session.

Snow Management (Major Clearing) 1:45:00 [5] 3.0 km (35:00 / km)

Huge effort at moving a lot of snow across the road and into the woods to clear out the last snowfall and prepare for the next dumping. Kazillions of back-and-forths with the snow scoop and heavy loads. My upper body muscles are toast.

Bright, sunny morning after a big snowfall: perfect conditions for getting a third Tourer section under my belt. Francis and I hit the OWWT again, starting at Rifle Rd, similar to last Saturday's stint. Tracks were slower due to the fresh snow, and we had to cut our own track on the last 1.5 km or so on the Chipmunk Alley section as the groomers hadn't got around to a second classic track there yet. Both of us were feeling it, and I was looking to 'smell the barn' at around 10 km into the trek. Still managed to somehow ski fairly negative splits, so I guess I pulled down some fuel from somewhere! Fastest km: 6:16.8. We stopped for 4 min at the 2 km mark to peel off some layers: the day felt warmer than the WN data provided. (-8C with a -14C w/c)

Lots of snow to shovel after the plow left a wall at the end of the driveway. Also did Wally’s steps, Pat’s upper driveway, and the Haze Maze. Kept a speedy pace.

Nice evening ski with the Fam (Natasha, Francis, and Robbie) at Wesley-Clover and OWWT while Andrew walked and ran. Started from the Kanata Nordic parking lot, signed in and paid for our day passes. Slow start as we made our way through the campground/KNordic trails and finally onto the TCT and then onto the KN trails in the equestrian park. Nice big loop in there, then off to the OWWT towards March Rd. Turned around at the farm access road and headed back as dusk started deepening. Headlamps on at around 13 km to see us back to our cars. Lots of fun, beautiful evening, perfect temp, great company! Two deer sightings :)
Second 15 km round completed towards the CSM virtual Tourer goal. Fastest km: 5:30.9 :)
Stopped the watch at Corkstown/TCT and used the climb back up to the parking lot as a warm down. Bit of a watch glip early in the game, so checked with Tash re overall time and confirmed with the average split times recorded on my watch.
