XC skiing hills (CSM Tourer #8) 1:45:18 [4] 15.3 km (6:53 / km) +321m 6:14 / km
ahr:143 shoes: Rossignol X-8 Classic boots

Really tough, slow conditions, as a heavy blanket of snow was falling the whole time! -6C with a -14C w/c. Met Philippa in the Chelsea Masters group and had a nice chat :) Started at P5, and noticed at P8 that my watch had stopped tracking data soon after I started :/ Since P5 to P8 is 2km, I just added that to my ongoing total to keep track of my distance after I restarted my watch at P8. Added 12 min to my time total - dang, missed that nice downhill into P8 from my avge pace calcs!!! :(
From P8, headed back to the Junction and went up Champlain Pkwy to MacKenzie, went up there and also did a little toodle down #7 to add some distance before heading back to MacKenzie, to Champlain (windchill was really nasty on this stretch) and up Gat Pkwy to P5. After I got back to P5, did a little stint almost up to the Pingouin trail to add some ‘for sure’ distance. Fastest km: 4:30 flat. Andrew and Francis did their own thing, and all back at the car in good time. Roads back to Ottawa were covered and slippery! Gucci drug-dealer green-light-peeler, fish-tailer and red-light-jumper dude was giving drivers a helluva scare as he stunt-drove in his ‘no license on the back’ narc-car.

Francis and I skied the Bubble Wand Loop towards Lac Phil (#53 to #51) out of P17 in the Gats. The woods were absolutely gorgeous, with trees covered in yesterday's 12-15 cm of heavy snow. The tracks were perfect and the snow was nice. Tried to snap a pic of the Ribbon Tree near P19, but my phone was too cold to comply.
Cold start with a -17C w/c at the parking lot, but the woods sheltered us enough to let us enjoy the -7C air temp without the w/c contribution. Lovely outing! Our Andrew enjoyed his own 10.5 km ski on #53.
Hey, with my #7 activity entry I’m in 75th place :)

Wonderful, scenic outing with Francis on #53 and #51 from P17 in the Gats. Nice varied terrain we could work at without bonking. Warmish day: -2C with a -6C w/c to start, but things were definitely around zero when we finished. Peeled off at around 3.5 km or so and switched to cooler gloves at around 7 km. Had a nice ‘STB’ long speedy few kms near the end, with our pace in the 5-min zone. Pristine track and corduroy for most of the way - really nice! My glove turned off my watch at around 7.3km, and I caught the problem 1.4 km later according to Francis’ watch. Still had most of my data recorded in two sections, so all good.
Head felt OK after resting yesterday, and I was pleased with our 6:16/km AvPace! :)
90th place with this entry :)

Note
(rest day)

Day off today after two consecutive days of skiing. Head was conc-ing out right from the start of the morning. Grumpy day. Did my meditative activities to help, including hot-waxing my skis.
Drank lots of water - slosh, slosh!

Really nice ski with Francis, Natasha, and Robbie and Marketa from P16 in the Gats. Team Bruski-Kawam ‘escorted’ the intrepid Grahams on the first 8 km of their 50-km trek for the second day of their CdeBois Gold CSM.
A cold start (-17C with a really cold w/c) made for cold fingers and toes - and the end of the nose- as we made our way along the gorgeous route. Beautiful snowy-crystally scenery all around and perfectly-groomed tracks. We Three turned around after wishing Team Graham a wonderful rest of their adventure and made our way back to the parking lot and a welcome taste of Tash’s chocolate brownies :)
Saw Lorna G there! Small snowy world!
Warmed up and got fed by Tash back at her place. Thanks for that and the ride there and back, Dot!!!
This Tourer entry puts me in 110th place :)

Nice walk with Sandra around the Mud Lake neighbourhood and a bit along the frozen river from Britannia Beach to Maud St. Nice homemade rink on the river there!!
