Francis and I took Purp and Judy on an adventure to the former Beachburg subdivision to ride the old railway bed out to Cameron Harvey Dr. It took awhile for me to get my ‘gravel legs’ but I managed to cover the ~5 km without wiping out, sliding out, or spinning in slo-mo. The gravel was quite chunky!
On the way back we zipped along March Valley Rd with Shirley’s Brook next to us, then used Klondike to take us to a turnoff to the pumping station. From there we meandered through the Shirley’s Brook neighbourhood to Terry Fox, then took Hertzberg to the path along the golf course as we approached Carling. There was mud. On the ground, on me, and on Judy. Judy’s knobby tires were happy to collect as much mud as possible, then share it with me and eventually Francis when he was riding behind me along the Watt’s Creek trail, which we entered at Burke Rd.
Tour de France bike path all the way home as kazillions of people were out and about. After a much-enjoyed Coupon Cuisine lunch, we gave Purp and Judy a good cleaning and checking-over. Amazing how brightly sunlight shines off of a clean cassette!

Running (Post bike-day run) 24:18 [3] 4.01 km (6:04 / km) +61m 5:38 / km
shoes: ASICS Gel Kayano 25

Slow run this morning. Felt creaky and tired after yesterday’s bike. Kept it easy, as I found I was quite winded. Oxygen debt for lactate conversion is a real thing!
Nice cool, sunny morning.

Gorgeous spring day, sunny and 13C when we left, 18C upon returning. DiNA’s and Walt’s first trek of the season! We went from home to just shy of P8 and back. Still some snow in spots, but we had clear (but wet) road to get through them. Stopped for pics at Trail 60 and other spots for the ‘60’ factor. Pink hill clocked in at 4:53 for me :) Max speed at any point: 49.1 kph.
Champlain Bridge bike lane was swept since our Sunday ride (yay) but there’s still quite a bit of scree on the Gat bike paths and sections of the Parkways.
It was fairly quiet up there today. Niiiiiiiiice!

Well, that’s done! My RYAs are finished in plenty of time. Have to come up with a new challenge - maybe a running-biking combo of some sort? Hmmm...
Beautiful sunny morning. Ran up to Iris and then over to Parkway Drive for the turn-around. It was nice running on the grass hill by the T-way.
Did a loop around Chambers to add a few meters.

First long cycling trek of the season, with Francis on Purp and me on Judy. Explored the bike paths through Mordor, Carlington, Exp Farm, through the Preston neighbourhood and up towards Pimisi station and beyond to the SJAM. Then headed west to take the Champlain bridge into the Gats. Hit six snow-and-ice patches on the Parkway after P3 and up to Notch road, where we turned around to head back. Nice sunny day, perfect temp that had us peel off shells at P3 on the way ‘up’. Busy bike paths on the Ontario side! :/
Covering over 50k on Judy is VERY different from doing the same on DiNA!!!!!! :D
