Training run (trail/forest run) 47:31 [5] **** 7.1 km (6:42 / km) +200m 5:52 / km

From my garden up the Melechov hill and back. Up along trails and through open forest, down along paths. At the summit in a record 31:56. Didn’t have the right shoes so held back a bit on the downhill segment. A good pace and a good feeling.

Orienteering race 1:01:04 [5] ***** 5.4 km (11:19 / km) +280m 8:59 / km

A mountain orienteering race in Southern Bohemia. Up and down a stony hill, twice from two different sides. Chose to run H21, which I shouldn’t have as I’m no longer 21. Pretty slow from the start but at least more or less clean. Unfortunately forgot to punch the penultimate control, only realized just before the finish so ran back and did the final loop again. Lost 6 minutes there. Oh well.

trek hills (trek / walk) 30:00:00 [5] ***** 112.0 km (16:04 / km) +2100m 14:42 / km

Did the northernmost part of Sweden’s Kungsleden (“Royal Trail”) between Nikkulaokta and Abisko in 2 full days and one afternoon. Walked 112km in 30 hours (Day 1: 9 hours/36km/climb700 metres over an afternoon; Day 2: 12hours/40km/climb 900 metres; Day 3: 9 hours/36km/climb 500 metres) + two nights’ sleep in huts along the way. Walked with my wife so pace was rather leisurly. Not a very pleasant trek, stones everywhere for miles and miles, extremely tough on the feet. Beautiful scenery though!
