Warm-up 2:20 [3] 0.5 km (4:40 / km)

1 PM

Orienteering race (Sprint) 22:53 [5] 3.37 km (6:47 / km) +60m 6:14 / km

Czech Veteran Sprint Championships. H45. A fatal error from 1 to 2, a 15-second route at most. Was right there (in 14 seconds flat) but misread the code and ran around like a headless chicken before finally realizing the control was mine indeed. 1 minute 20 second and all of my enthusiasm gone. In terms of setting though, it doesn't get better than this race in the majestic grounds of the Kynžvart Castle. Fantastic all around. If this was the final race of the Czech orienteering season (lockdown resumes Monday ..), it was a goodbye in style.

Warm-up (Road) 5:20 [3] 1.0 km (5:20 / km)

12 PM

Orienteering race (Middle) 42:57 [5] 4.51 km (9:31 / km) +123m 8:23 / km

A regional ranking race near Marianské Lázně. H45. An exquisite forest on a gorgeous autumn day. Twenty-nine years ago, in a race adjacent to WOC1991 in this very area, I put on my all time best orienteering performance. Today wasn't quite as great - ran fast but made a 4-minute mistake to the second control (circled around it far too long) and two other minor errors. All together, 6-7minutes lost. A bunch of very good splits though.
