Ran for about 1:15 min. Was doing well until I was almost at 8 and then made a huge blunder by going to 2 instead. Then I packed it in. Much too long for me these age group Long courses.

Really nice map though, and I look forward to getting out here on a shorter race.

Ottawa O-Fest Middle, Chapel Hill, M35

After a lot of reflection, I'm fairly happy with this result. The map was very technical and I found it difficult to read and follow the intricate contours. Many of the legs were quite short, however, and I found myself just running on a bearing for the ~100 - 150 m between controls. Disaster struck leaving 4 when I fell in the creek and my map hand landed in the grey, clay mud. I tried to wipe it off with some leaves, but it was hard to read for the rest of the race, and I definitely missed the best route into one control as it was covered in mud.
10 was the only real probably I had, as I was careless and got on the wrong side of a marsh.
The big problem for me these days, is that I probably just need bifocals, but I can't bring myself to go to the eye doctor and do it. sigh.
