Orienteering 2:30:39 [3] 5.26 mi (28:38 / mi) +37m 28:01 / mi
ahr:109 max:144

Snowshoe Orienteering! With all the snow I decided to wear snowshoes for this nav practice. Overall I liked it, occasionally off trail was not super pleasant depending on how much deadfall was around. Several sticks got caught up in the snowshoes, once causing me to trip and fall, but I’d definitely do it again! Also, it is slower moving, so definitely have to be willing to go at a chill pace.

Biking (Outside) 1:21:35 [3] 8.51 mi (9:35 / mi) +90m 9:17 / mi
ahr:118 max:148

Tried my studded skinnies again, no bueno. Either I’m unlucky with conditions or I just don’t have the skills to manage riding in the snow. Rode mostly park road and still bailed early.

Temps: ~20 degrees

Clothing: Waterproof hiking boots, thin smart wool socks, waterproof socks, running shorts, heavy pearl izumi tights, heavy biking shell pants, bra, hmbwt blue tank, heavy mizuno arm sleeves, nike livestrong heavy shirt, blue vest, heavy pearl izumi shell coat, buff, smart wool headband, smart wool hat, heavy Mtn bike cloves, bar mitts on bike.

Results: slightly chilly at the start, got a lot warmer with the stress of biking on the snowy trail. Had I stuck to trail the whole time I would have been too warm, dropping out to the road ended up being perfect with the level of effort I was exerting. Had I pushed harder I probably would have gotten warm on the road too.
