Lite jog 30% trail, 20% fight cross country, rest in the dark on trails (and a few feet off traill by accident as light ended
Accidentily misjudged sunset, and was leaving an unplanned heavy fight area tht was maped as light run. Hiked from the Wanaque trail (center N/S), then took abandoned spur (faint trail at best) to the bottom of a rock outcrop and cliff structure. Took a bearing as light ended and at first, lite fight encountered, and I kept assending up a cliff. decide to leave but not backtrack. Fight kept getting worse in the direction of the gas line trail which I was looking for. found a tarp (near a ruined and anien fire place/clearing). gain the end of the fight, and walk over to the trail, start running but very hot and tires, lite going fast. then I slipped on loose rocks, side slip and loss of specs and map, a wipe out . small elbow cut on sharp rock. head downhill after 6 minutes of checking, and light gives out as I reach 1/2 mike trail head to the wanaque river. do well getting to the river with the last 200 yards lit by soccer lights on soccer field by the parking lot. Cross foot bridge at about 8.45 pm, very tired, the drive to the showers. Next time, mini mag flash light!!!
