Orienteering 58:35 [3] 7.07 km (8:17 / km)

Score orienteering event at Johnson's hill. Ran up on to the skyline straight away getting at lot of the climb on my route over and done with early. Then along followed by mostly downhill until the climb back up to the finish. Felt good, nothing painful although I started to lack energy towards the end. I managed to win which was surprising as I feel like I lost close to 5 minutes with a poor route choice along a river and up some waterfalls as opposed to a longer route along a track/road. The only other negative was that I could have easily went to a few more controls on the way to the finish. Instead I just ran the most direct route because I had forgotten to start my watch and was unsure exactly how long I had left. I ran about an extra km when control collecting in addition to the other 7.

Running 19:08 [3] 5.0 km (3:50 / km)

Porirua parkrun, the track was much more muddy than usual. The distance on my watch stopped working after 600m and I was first so had a little bit of trouble having a consistent pace that I was happy with. Left shoulder was sore before running and Ellie made me eat cake before so I wasn't expecting to be particularly fast. Fortunately the pain from my shoulder and a stitch were only mild and not enough to slow me down, also I had no leg pain at all. Slightly disappointed that I couldn't get under 19 minutes.

Thursday Aug 17 #

Running 24:36 [3] 5.0 km (4:55 / km)

2x2m then 3x3m intervals, with 2 & 3 minute active rests in between. Then stretching and strength stuff. Went at 10pm so nice and peaceful not too cold either. Ran along the footpath, 5km just a guess. Felt good for the first 3 km but outside edge of left calf started to hurt.

Tuesday Aug 15 #

Running 18:03 [3] 3.92 km (4:36 / km)

Ran to Ellie's house to be taken to running group. Felt good, didn't feel affected at all by Churchill drive hill. Left calf started to feel a bit tight on the outside running up to Ellie's though.

Running 1:05:00 [3] 6.77 km (9:36 / km)

Running group. 30 minutes of drills then 2x2 minutes of intervals followed by 4x3 minutes with 2 minutes between each. Followed by an extra 3 minutes of warm down and then stretching. The 6.77 km was just during the intervals and the warm down. Didn't feel sore at all except got a stitch on the warm down surprisingly.

Monday Aug 14 #

Running 30:00 [3] 4.5 km (6:40 / km)
