Adventure racing 4:49:00 [5] 28.73 km (10:04 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 270

Mixture of orienteering/running and biking, there was also tubing but that isn't included in this. The weather was overcast with quite a neutral temperature and so I wasn't too hot or cold until the tubing section.

We started off having to run and get a couple of close controls individually and then clip them onto our wristbands before we could start the actual race. I was first to mine and so was fairly fast however Ellie was a bit slower to hers and got stuck in the queue of people clipping them as some people were really slow at it, and so I had to wait a couple of minutes before we could go. During the first running section it went pretty well with no mistakes really.

After that we had a biking section which was difficult. The start of it was along really muddy farm tracks and across farmland as well as having a lot of ups and downs. These bit were quite slow as I pushed both our bikes most of the time so got tired and the down hills were very muddy and bumpy which Ellie wasn't confident on and were slow anyway. We continued biking after doing a little shortcut that saved a minute or two and got to a large forestry road that went up a huge hill and then down the other side. This hill was pretty tiring to go up and made mud fly everywhere on the way down.

There was a second running section next during which I was a bit tired going up the hill. Also we made a unfortunate route choice to try and go up a river but it was covered in fallen trees so had to go up a track instead. Then we had to run down the other side of the hill where we made a small mistake and followed an unmarked path on the map instead of the marked one we wanted.

Finally there was the tubing section which was good for the most part (it was a little bit awkward lying so I didn't hit rocks in shallower parts). I got a bit cold about halfway through and often it was faster and easier to just run along the rocks on the side. The tubing took about an hour which isn't included in this time as it wasn't particularly physical.

Orienteering 33:06 [3] 6.09 km (5:26 / km)
shoes: Inov8 F-lite

Orienteering at Avalon park: Micro sprint with a section of longer legs. Legs felt a bit sore so was going pretty easy. Also warm up and warm down.

Running 1:00:00 [4] 6.93 km (8:39 / km)
shoes: Inov8 F-lite

Harriers running: Warm up, then drills, followed by 12 (I think) x 200 m hard, then jogging back to the start in between. For four of them I ran with a parachute which added quite a bit more resistance when running. Did a warm down and stretches afterwards. Felt pretty good but my hamstrings were a bit sore towards the end.

Running 17:49 [4] 3.87 km (4:36 / km)
shoes: Inov8 F-lite

Running to Ellie's to go to harriers. The last hill was a bit tiring and the weather was really hot and sunny.
