Sunday Jan 28 #

Orienteering 1:48:28 [4] 8.95 km (12:07 / km)

SOW day 3: Chasing start middle distance at West Bay. Had a rather late start time due to the slow day before so there weren't too many people on the course at the same time. The course had quite a long control 1 which I made lots of mistakes on taking over 15 minutes, along with taking over 10 minutes of controls 10 and 17. I kept on having good navigation for 3-4 controls followed by a large mistake and losing all the time I might have gained. The terrain had hundreds of rocks and tiny clearings and was quite tricky to navigate in. In the future I need to just slow down a bit and have constant contact with the map. Running wise I felt pretty good aside from the heat although it was rather difficult to run properly in the terrain.

Orienteering 3:15:19 [5] 14.92 km (13:05 / km)

SOW day 2: Long distance at Teetotal. Did horrifically poor navigation for the majority of the first 7 controls getting caught 15 minutes by Jake. The rest of the controls were mostly acceptable navigation wise although a large hole in my map right on control 10 made the area difficult. Though I was nearly done by control 25 having already done 13km and 2.5 hours only to then have to climb a massive hill with vague detail to find the control. Overall the course was unpleasantly hot and long.

Friday Jan 26 #

Orienteering 1:11:06 [5] 5.3 km (13:25 / km)

SOW day 1: Middle distance at Tunnicliffe Forest. Started off the course fairly well up until control 6 where there was a bit of debate as to whether it was in the wrong place. The course was fairly hilly and really hot which seemed to contribute to me feeling rather sick from control 8. Made a very odd mistake around control 10 when I wasn't thinking straight.

Running 40:00 [3] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 270

Run/jog to the West bay campsite from central St Arnaud and back.

Tuesday Jan 23 #

Running 53:21 [4] 5.49 km (9:43 / km)
shoes: Inov8 F-lite

Harriers, really hot and sunny. We did the usual drills and then we did hill exercises, shuttle runs up flights of steps, and a run up and around to the bottom once we reached the street above. After me and a few others did it again as it was a bit slow with so many people the first time.
