Orienteering 35:00 [3] 6.5 km (5:23 / km) +25m 5:17 / km
shoes: Salomon S-Lab

Lonely Mountain Sprint 3 + Warmup, etc. Another not great race, started off decently but made a big mistake on control 14. I chose a route going partly back the way I had come and confused myself thinking that the track I wanted was the same one I had come up. It wasn't and I should have read the map properly instead of trying to just remember it. Leg started hurting in the later part of the course again too.

Orienteering 36:24 [3] 5.7 km (6:23 / km) +44m 6:09 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

Lonely Mountain Sprint 4 + warmup and warmdown. The first race of the weekend where I was mostly happy with how I did and I enjoyed the course a lot more. Still had a number of small errors and my shin began to hurt again towards the end of the course again. Started 1 minute in front of Fredric Tranchand so was pleased it took 18 controls for him to catch up, he then made a mistake on 21 so I got to overtake him before he sprinted off again. Had a little chat afterwards.

Orienteering 25:00 [3] 4.7 km (5:19 / km) +30m 5:09 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

Lonely Mountain Sprint 1 + warmup. Did pretty badly for this one. Was going okay until I didn't see a gap by the out of bounds and so ran way off course as the only other way. Following this I followed the line to the wrong control adding up to about 5 minutes of mistake. It wasn't helped by only getting 4 hours sleep the night before.

Orienteering 21:45 [3] 4.2 km (5:11 / km) +37m 4:58 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

Lonely Mountain Sprint 2. Course went okay, still not great had 3 small mistakes/ long hesitations. My leg started hurting a bit about halfway through.

Strength & Conditioning 15:00 [3]

Running 1:22:00 [3] 11.4 km (7:12 / km) +650m 5:36 / km
shoes: Salomon S-Lab

Windy Ogang run with Tessa, Magnus, Caspar and Lizzie. Ran up to the skyline and down through the pines and bush. A little stop starty and at one point we did lose the other half of the group.

Tuesday Jan 21 #

Running 1:14:00 [3] 15.2 km (4:52 / km) +190m 4:35 / km
shoes: Salming Speed 3

Olympic harriers intervals and then run home. Intervals were 3x45s, 2x75s, 1x180s, 2x75s, and 3x45s, with an equal recovery after each one. Felt really good on the run home until the final hill stole all my energy.

Monday Jan 20 #

Orienteering 43:32 [3] 8.22 km (5:18 / km) +25m 5:13 / km
shoes: Salming Speed 3

Sprint training at Rathkeale, was a bit sore so wasn't going hard. Did some route choice corridors and knockout sprint practice. No mistakes or major confusions.

Orienteering 20:15 [3] 4.0 km (5:04 / km)
shoes: Salming Speed 3

Hadlow sprint, same as U23 camp champs in 2018. No errors or hesitations but the running speed wasn't very fast. Warmup and down included.
