Warmup/down 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

very rough warmups from the weekend

Orienteering 41:53 [4] 6.28 km (6:40 / km) +31m 6:31 / km
ahr:164 max:184 shoes: Salomon S-Lab

NZOC Middle Distance. Fun fast course. Made a mistake on 1 but then decently clean for the rest of the course. Wasn't fast or fit enough to do well but at least I wasn't overtaken by Matt. http://obasen.orientering.se/winsplits/online/en/d...

ahr:162 max:182 shoes: VJ Irock 2

NZOC Long Distance. Mistake on 1 again. Okay until another big mistake on 19. Was starting to feel pretty done by 19 and went from thinking I might mange to be under 2 hours to almost 2.5 hours as my endurance just wasn't there. Last part of the course had lots of steep climb with undergrowth which quite of lot of people seemed to struggle with.

NZOC Sprint Distance. Didn't enjoy the course at all. The courses had so many artificial barriers that it felt more like maze orienteering than a sprint, with it being difficult even finding a route to each control. I also really struggled to even see the barriers on the map as they were quite thin and didn't stand out blending in the the various course lines. As a result there were times were I checked a gap multiple times on the map, and thought it was clear, only to find that it wasn't and times that I ran around part of the course lines thinking there was going to be a barrier there. Combining this with regularly having to run through dark corridors where map reading was impossible, and my inability to read the map as quick as other people seem to, resulted in having no flow and a sense of panic for most of the course. First sprint course I've ever been happy to be able to run a plain leg straight down a road for a few hundred metres.
