Cycling 45:00 [3]

Down the road into the Cape Croker indian reserve, to the gate and back to the cottage. Very easy pace in a light rain. Bike wasn't set up for speed. Had to hold the shifter so the gears wouldn't automatically change! Left hip started to ache a little bit. But again lots of stretching afterward.

Running 18:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1221

Ran out and back down the road at Hope Bay. Was a good easy jog on a dirt road and felt pretty good given the long car ride. IT band still quite tight but made sure to do lots of stretching afterward and felt good.

Swimming 20:00 [3] 0.75 km (26:40 / km)

Swam 750m in preparation for next weekend's triathlon. Should definitely be able to swim quicker than this in the race as I'll be pumped and won't be doing the breast stroke much, if at all. Felt ok but swimming in open water will be much different.

Note
slept:8.5 (rest day)

So far, so good this morning. Back is a little tight but not bad. Did some stretching of the ITB. Overall, feel ok since yesterday's chiro and run. Need to look for other local trails to run on. One thing's for sure, they don't have to be long trails.

Chiropractor 30:00 [3]

First chiro appt was today. Went really well. Started with heat and then worked the low back, glute medius, ITB, ankle joint and tib/fib. Decided I'd go for a run afterward. Might be a bad idea but we'll see. Adjusting the back was a little scary though.

Running 12:00 [2] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)
slept:8.5 shoes: New Balance 1221

Went for a jog in Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Parked at the entrance off Moore and went for a jog along the gravel road that parallels Moore. 6 min out and then back. Felt really good but we'll see how I feel tomorrow. Took an epsom salt bath and then stretched the ITB pretty well. Fingers crossed.

Cycling 45:00 [4]
slept:8.0

Did a spinning class this morning and my back is freaking out on me today. Could be that I've done a lot over the past 5 days. Too much probably. But man, this is the worst back problems I've had.

Massage 30:00 [3]

Thank goodness today was the day for my massage. Back certainly felt better during but I'm still feeling it now that I'm back to my desk. It's really distracting me from work. Today is sucking. Wondering if swimming is a good idea tomorrow am? Definitely rethinking the tri in 10 days.

Chiropractor 20:00 [3]

Pretty good appointment today. Glad I went to see a chiropractor. He's optimistic that I'll recover but no more orienteering for a while. I need to take baby steps. Very short walk/runs. Running on grass is ideal to get the proprioception back. Yoga, swimming and cycling are also good.

Probably not a good idea to do the Sherkston triathlon. Knowing myself though it'll be hard to back out. Just need to force myself to go really slowly on the run. Walk as much as I need to.
