Fin5 #5
better!! still not perfect with a 3 min loss at #2 just not picking up the path in the green and hesitant in the circle and a silly minute loss near the end racing another girl (she followed me tho so all was fine). Didn’t feel very confident so wasn’t running as hard as i should’ve but big improvement today!

Fin5 #4
Made sure i concentrated to #1 and thought i was too high but then crossed the path by a boulder (wasn’t mapped) and the only boulder on the path was right on line for my control so was buzzing. Then took a good bearing from it as well but then couldn’t find my control in the green and was so confused? turns out my dad did the same thing lol. Took 15 mins to find it after lots of wandering round trying to relocate off all these boulders.

Decided to just walk and jog the rest and got them all fine. Actually focussed on my nav and i’m not even bothered about number one because i did alright for the rest even if it was just jogging. It was good training and i’m happy with it.

After yesterday I was just glad to even get out of bed and get orienteering in the sun and i couldn’t care less at this point that i keep messing up. Like obviously i want to do well but lately my heads not been in a good place so not surprising i can’t concentrate at the start of any race. I know it probably won’t make sense to many people but i’m just trying to stay positive and i’m just glad i got myself out of the door, to the start and eventually to the finish!

Note

missing the sprint today. feel awful. only way i can put it is that since exams i’ve been in self destruct mode and i’ve finally broken myself again.

shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280 #2

Fin5 #2
set off steady as to not blow 1 again. Then made sure to take a good bearing to #2 but took me forever to reach the path (not used to the scale - 1:15000) so assumed i had drifted too far left and was by the reenrrant to the left of the control when actually i was perfect, lols. 3 mins lost here but i actually relocated pretty well but faffed about a bit getting there. Literally was dying going to #3 and was a grind round because leggies are tired AF.

Event: Fin 5

12 PM

running warm up/down 9:57 [2] 1.56 km (6:23 / km) +10m 6:11 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

1 PM

orienteering race 31:24 [5] 4.17 km (7:32 / km) +50m 7:06 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Fin5 #1.
Set off like an idiot and blew #1 for 5 minutes not taking any care with my bearing at all up the hill. Ran around like a headless chicken then when i eventually decided to relocate i found it perfectly. Idiot. Anyways though the rest of the course I was good and managed to catch back up with 2 Fins who had caught me and was with them in a little bit of a train for some of it.
Never been this close to the bottom of the field in a race ever. Ended up +8.57 on the leader. But positive though because take 5 mins off and that’s only 4 mins ish down and she’s one of the best ranked fins! Also was really feeling Latvia and the travelling in the legs especially up hill. I will have a clean run yet eh!
