had plenty of time to stretch when i got there but nearly missed my start because didn’t realise the clocks were the actual time not -3 mins like the rest of the days, was on the start line 30s before i had to go haha

Oringen Day 5 (Chasing Start)
Another okay run. Few small mistakes at the start not being confident enough in where I was going even though it was right. Then went walk about on the long leg and ended up miles too right and didn’t correct quickly enough really, still don’t understand how I got that far over because didn’t even turn right that much? haha dunno, must’ve just done a very dodgy bearing and then i lost contact!! Was okay ish from there but feeling tired and not pushing very hard just wanting to not mess up stupidly again.

Mike Pearson gave me a dressing to put on my achilles which created a foam padding layer between my shoe and the lump which lessened the pain but was still feeling it a bit up the hill

Oringen Day 4 (middle) - 31st - +8.43
Wearing my new lucky headband and spiked all of them until I took it off because it got caught in a tree and moved and started annoying me haha. Then started making a few slip ups losing maybe 2/3 mins in total? Felt good today though and was picking out the important details in the technical parts and running hard.

achilles really sore on this (same as last year, lump on back of my heel which kills when shoe pushes on it and uphill the whole area just kills). Stretched it a lot at the start and didn’t notice it really when running.

Okay run. Feeling a bit dead running as it was so so hot. Made a few mistakes so lost a fair bit of time and wasn’t moving through the terrain very quickly. Don’t think my brain works in the heat either haha!

Missed #1 (shock) for 60s but other than that raced hard and felt good running in terrain. Buzzing because shows I can get a good result if I get it right and was orienteering really well even though I wasn’t feeling too confident after yesterday. Played it safe on the long leg because knew it was going well and didn’t want to risk messing it up and wasn’t sure whether it lost me too much time but spoke to fiona after and don’t think it was that bad
