Met Gwyn, Outi & Ruth for a muddy trot along the canal.

Took it easy for the first 50 mins or so, still worried about the right leg. Felt fine after a warm-up, so picked up the pace slightly for the final 3 miles.

Running race 35:28 [3] 10.0 km (3:33 / km)

LUMPHANAN DETOX 10K

Tried to ignore everyone at the start - this was a time trial for me and I didn't want to get drawn in to a fast pack too early. Just concentrated on keeping up a steady intensity.

Felt good on the first 2km - made up quite a few places on the ascent. Interestingly, I found the downhill harder on the legs and lost about four places in the 3rd km. Remained steady for the middle road section. The 8th km is mostly on an incline on a farm track, I made a good pace here and made up 3 places and I held that position till the end. Probably could've pushed a bit harder on the last 500m but I was wary of the ice in the village; was unlikely to make/lose a place and didn't want to risk a fall. Finished in 6th place.

I felt like I paced this well - never felt easy and got steadily harder throughout. The last 2km were particularly hard, but I was in control. Things only felt desperate for the last 500m, but that's a good sign I think.

Overall pretty pleased with how it went.

Running 18:53 [3] 1.97 mi (9:35 / mi)
ahr:152 max:170 shoes: Adidas Supernova Sequence 8

Went for a warm-down about 10-15 mins after the race; just time to get a goody bag, put on some warm clothes and say good-bye to my Mum & Dad.

The first 200m were very difficult. I don't know how to describe it other than my right leg seemed to almost give way at the knee and I could only manage a limp/hop, rather than a proper stride. As it warmed up I was able to maintain a decent cadence. It isn't painful, more a mild discomfort that seems to affect my stride at the beginning of runs.

Running 1:00:22 [3] 7.56 mi (7:59 / mi) +55m 7:48 / mi
ahr:160 max:175 shoes: Asics GT 1000-6

Same route as yesterday with a couple more laps of the Goals football pitches thrown in.

Legs felt worse today. A slight ache/tightness in my left quad and a weakness around the knee. Was noticeable for the first 5 minutes of running but less so as I warmed up.

Ferryhill > Duthie Park > Brig o Dee > Goals Football Pitches > Ferryhill

Felt surprisingly strong on this run, expected the legs to be crunched after yesterday - was flying along and had to consciously slow down. My HR seems suspiciously high, I definitely wore too many layers and was quite hot throughout.

Did 6*stride-outs in Duthie Park.
