In Aberdeen for the weekend - a surprising hot day, for North-East Scotland at least!

Ferryhill > Torry Battery > Brig o'Dee > Railway line to Cults > Ferryhill.

Felt strong throughout.

Woke up early to go for a cycle, couldn't find the key to my D-Lock (I keep the bike chained up in the close), spent 30 mins turning the flat upside down unsuccessfully looking for it, gave up, went for a run.

Legs felt a bit beasted after yesterday.

WESTIES SIMON TRIGGER MEMORIAL HANDICAP

Start Blanefield, along an undulating track for 1.5 miles, turn right to follow a gently rising path then technical trod, a thigh-bursting steep ascent to the summit of Drumgoyne and back again.

I was 2nd last to start, made up quite a few places, Gregor overtook me on the way down Drumgoyne thanks to a very cool line off the top. I tried to stay as relaxed and loose as possible on all descents. Pushed hard on the road. A beautiful evening with stunning views across the Trossachs from the top of the hill.

Felt a bit tired at the start so probably wasn't as race-primed as I would like to be but was able to push hard throughout.

Running warm up/down 9:00 [3] 1.3 mi (6:55 / mi)

Running 1:00:00 [3] 7.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Mizuno Synchro MX

Lunchtime run - three laps of Glasgow Green. Was joined by a partially-crocked Iain T for one of the laps. Did 6*hill-sprints on North Portland Street on the way back to the office.

Legs felt a bit heavy after the last two days. My left leg tightened up quite dramatically at one point in the middle of the run, but that only lasted for a about 10s and didn't return.

Time/distance is a guesstimate as I left my Garmin at home this morning.

City Centre > Canal > Torrance > Campsie Glen > Blainfield > Baldarnock > Bearsden > Hyndland. Met Gregor for a sociable ride.

Absolutely stunning summer's evening, first warm ride of the year, quiet roads and brilliant scenery - sometimes Glasgow is a paradise.

Cobbler > Ben Ime > Ben Narnain. Rain for the first 2.5 hours and then tapps-aff sunshine.

Tried the fabled 'Borrowdale Short-Cut' off Narnain, not sure I found it. The last descent was a muddly, slippy mess and the Salomon rubber was a nightmare - how does anyone race in these shoes?

Felt OK throughout.
