BEN RESIPOL HILL RACE
A lot of variety in this race; a mad dash through the campsite, a muddy trail, tiny twisty turny trods through the woods, bog path on the open hill-side and the craggy scrambling towards the top. Nice and cool with a bit of rain near the summit.
I stuck with Stuart Crutchfield to the top before he shot off on the descent - no chance I was keeping up with him in that terrain. I settled in to a group of five with Michael Reid, Stuart Malcolm and John Connaghan plus one other - a fun, competitive crew. It was 'proper' racing right to the finish; no quarter asked or given and every possible short-cut used to best effect. I was able to peel away on the last half mile along the flat and finished in 10th place overall.
A very satisfying race.
