Was riding by 08.30 after stocking up at the Killin Co-Op. Lovely (tough) road ride through Glen Lyon, nice stop for coffee at the Glen Lyon cafe. The trail over to Rannoch was tech in places.

A scary moment hurtling down the trails to Loch Rannoch when one of the straps on front-loader came loose, my handlebar bag fell forward and I only just managed to dodge it.

Wasted an hour after taking the wrong turn down a beautiful trail, ending up at Loch Rannoch again. The trail over Rannoch Moor/Loch Ossian was stunning - everything bathed in golden evening sunlight.

Found a nice spot to camp on the beach by Loch Laggan. Didn't really stop once.

BADGER DIVIDE DAY 1

Glasgow > WHW > Rob Roy Way > Aberfoyle Trails > Callender > Glen Ample > Glen Ogle > Killin

Brilliant day's riding, taken down some trails around Aberfoyle/WHW that I'd never been on before. Glen Ogle at dusk was very nice.

Irritatingly spent about 2hrs messing around with mechanics. Got as far as Maryhill before my gear cable jammed and I had to turn around to Gear Bikes to get it fixed. Then got a hole in my back tyre half a mile outside Aberfoyle - managed to get a new one/spoke replacement in town.

Lunchtime jog down the Clyde. Tried some stride-outs on the Green but a sharp pain in my right quad on one effort meant I gave up on that.

Lunchtime trot along the Clyde. Tried some stride-outs on the Green, weird pain in my right quad on the first effort so took it easy.

SCOTTISH ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP

A race! An actual race! I was in the "3rd wave", setting off at 11.24 - all very precise organisation. In all honesty I felt rubbish on the start line, not as fit as I'd hoped to be and a terrible night's sleep last night. Very nearly didn't start but, seeing as I was here, thought I'd give it a shot, see how it goes and not put too much pressure on myself.

Started off gently at the back of the pack. Slowly worked my way up. Swapped places with Will Bowers and others, but slowly burned them off. A warm day and the final climb seemed to go on forever. Got caught by Kirsty Dickson a mile from the end, but managed to catch her in an exciting sprint finish.

Cloud inversion on the summit and warm enough to sit around taps 'aff - a brilliant day!
