Saturday Feb 17 #

2 PM

Run with Strides 50:00 [2] 6.7 mi (7:28 / mi) +113m 7:05 / mi
ahr:136 max:151 slept:8.0

Easy run out with Hill sprints and drills at the end.
This felt like the best run so far this week and I certainly had to hold back, still feeling a bit lumpy and clunky when running, hence doing a focused drill session to. Legs quite heavy by the end though.

Friday Feb 16 #

9 AM

Run with Strides 50:08 [1] 6.15 mi (8:09 / mi) +46m 7:58 / mi
ahr:130 max:154 slept:8.0

Easy run along the river bank with Indie plus some strides.
Felt a bit easier this morning, still a little slugish but legs feeling much better - ground was a bit harder to which made things easier!
6 PM

ahr:92 max:109

1 hour turbo spinning on the bike - nice and easy, felt ok

Thursday Feb 15 #

9 AM

Run with Strides 1:01:51 [1] 7.07 mi (8:45 / mi) +62m 8:31 / mi
ahr:127 max:146 slept:8.0

Easy run along the river bank with Kim and Indie - very muddy so v slow at first - back/kidneys feeling much better though legs felt very tired. Eased off by the end though.
Stomach much better today though and feel like my system is coming back to itself.
Gym session in the afternoon and things feel like they are straightening up again = skipped the spin on the bike as was feeling a bit drained and will pick it up tomorrow.

Wednesday Feb 14 #

11 AM

Run 1:03:23 [4] 8.01 mi (7:55 / mi) +531m 6:34 / mi
ahr:145 max:176 slept:7.5

Hill Fartlek session around Fadmoor - Found a decent route and worked hard on the climbs - however back and kidneys were very sore and pain full so it really took the edge off the whole session - I wanted to do more res but was feeling pretty drained because of it so decided to keep it a little shorter and live to fight another day - went home and slept most of the afternoon.
Think I have had a bit of a build up of oixidative stress and it is just working its way out

Tuesday Feb 13 #

9 AM

Run 1:12:50 [2] 9.1 mi (8:00 / mi) +188m 7:31 / mi
ahr:140 max:167 slept:8.0

Easy off road run, felt a bit tight to start with but not too bad, had to keep myself in check and not turn it into a harder session than planned - though after a bit my stomach started to hurt a bit.
Went to the gym in the afternoon and I think tat shifted things around a bit as my kindeys started to feel a bit sore.
In hindsight I think this was coming on since we set off home on Thursday last week - I had a few stomach cramps as if I had eaten something dodgy - then on Sunday did not feel great when running and a bit lopsided - wonder if it is hangover from travelling, sitting and eating a bit less healthily - maybe a bit of oxidative stress as skin feels a bit think and rubbery too.

Monday Feb 12 #

9 AM

Run with Strides 53:55 [1] 6.41 mi (8:25 / mi) +51m 8:13 / mi
ahr:125 max:147

Easy run along the river bank with Indie - felt ok and legs not too battered - just normal for a post long run stretch out - strides helped at the end too.
6 PM

HR av 94 max 108 Dist 20 mile for 54 min
Easy spin on turbo

Sunday Feb 11 #

10 AM

Run race 1:50:39 [5] 15.01 mi (7:22 / mi) +678m 6:28 / mi
ahr:166 max:181 slept:8.0

Hardmoors half marathon (yes a bit longer) - ran as a no number/competitor - Clear day - very windy - and loads of mud chewed up from the 200 or so marathon runners who set off before us - should have worn grippier shoes.
Felt really strong and keen to have a good blast - ran v strong and a bit fast in the first hour - dropped the rest of the field in the first mile (I was still in Euro start mode!) then ran on my own for the rest of the race - managed to get HR high though i think some of this was adrenaline and caffine! Just loads of sliding around on the coast path - then headwind on the down hills which kept you honest - flagged after about and hour 15 and legs felt it through the muddy fields. Still ran reasonably strong in last 5 miles but not quite as on it as the first trail race in France. I used two Torque gels one after 40 min and the other at about an hour 15 - didnt feel these were great and maybe made me feel a bit iky - Have used these loads in the past and been ok but maybe just not used to them anymore..
Very pleased with run and felt like it was a big step up in performance - going underfoot was way harder than the three peaks ever has been so a good strength run with a bit less climbing!
